Prison and brothel are places that not everyone gets to visit. But, you see, many are interested in looking there with at least one eye and find out in what conditions moths work and prisoners serve time. And the German photographer Jürgen Chill gives all the curious a similar opportunity, and does it in a very original way.
"Bordelle & zellen" is a series of photographs taken in the premises of German brothels and a prison. No less interesting than the inner content of the rooms themselves is the perspective from which they were shot: it seems that the author simply removed the roof of the building and photographed the rooms from a great height, being directly above them, from a central perspective. Considering that we usually assess the appearance of a room by walking through doors and standing on the floor, then the point of view proposed by Jurgen Chill allows us to look at things in a completely new way.
“I wanted to present the facts in their most sober reality - but at the same time, I am in search of new perspectives. And if a contradiction arises between reality and the image, so much the better! - says Jurgen Chill about his work.
Jurgen Chill first created prison-themed photography in 2006, and in 2007 this series won first place from the European Architectural Photography Prize. Probably, this success inspired the author to continue working in a given direction, and in 2008-2009, images from brothels were born.
Jurgen Chill was born in the German city of Essen. Graduated from Hoogeschool voor de Kunsten (Arnhem, Netherlands) in 2002 with a fine arts education. Since then, the author has taken part in various national and international exhibitions.

How prisoners were convoyed in tsarist Russia and the USSR, and why it was part of the punishment
Delivery of a prisoner to the place of punishment, or, more simply, transferring, has always been a difficult task both for the state and for the prisoners themselves. Staging as a separate phenomenon has become firmly established not only in prison folklore, but also familiar to ordinary people. How the principle of delivery of prisoners to the place of stay has changed
What can be found in cookbooks written by prisoners of war and prisoners of the camps
Conditions in the camps at all times were very far from ideal. This applies to both the Gulag and the concentration camps during the Second World War. Hard work, illness, hunger and hopelessness became the lot of everyone who got there. And all the more amazing are the dumb witnesses of the horrors of the past that have come down to our time: cookbooks written by prisoners
Sailboats and swans: portraits of prisoners in Russian and Ukrainian prisons by Michal Chelbin
No matter how much they talk about tolerance, it is almost impossible to change the wary attitude towards prisoners in society. Israeli photographer Michal Chelbin presented a whole gallery of portraits of people serving sentences in prison. She visited seven correctional institutions in Russia and Ukraine, and various offenders were caught in the lens of her camera: from thieves to those who committed an assault with the aim of murder. The series received the unexpected name "Sailboats and Swans"
Broken Butterflies: New wings for injured butterflies. Unusual work of Anna ten Donkelaar (Anne ten Donkelaar)

The point is that the artist heals the damaged butterflies by giving them new wings made from a variety of materials, including gold, antique cards, fishing line, thread and embroidery
Imperial Prisoners: Prison and Execution, Overtaking Princes and Princesses Before Any Revolution
It seems that the prisoner is the most powerless creature on earth, and the members of the royal and royal families, on the contrary, and there is nothing in common between these two worlds.
