It is not known whether the photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand is familiar with the expression that "the big is seen at a distance", but in his work he invariably follows this phrase. Jan does not take his photographs in the studio, on the city streets or in the wild jungle. It rises into the air, because this is the only way to capture all the beauty and grandeur of our planet.
The idea to create a photo project “Earth from above”, which would combine bird's-eye views of all the continents of the Earth, was born to the photographer in the 90s of the last century. It would seem like a great idea. But for some reason, no one believed in it: the author wrote more than 200 letters asking for partnership, but most of them remained unanswered. With great difficulty, Jan managed to find sponsors, and in 1994 the project was launched.
Over the course of several years, the photographer's team traveled to 150 countries and took more than half a million stunning images, spending about 4 thousand hours on board the helicopter. Europe, Asia, America, Australia and Oceania, Africa, Antarctica - nothing was hidden from Jan's lens. The most successful photographs were published in the book "Earth from Above" (in Russian - "Earth seen from the sky"), which became a real bestseller. The publication was translated into 24 languages and sold over three million copies in total.
Taken together, Jan Arthus-Bertrand's photographs are visual evidence of the world we live in today. A world with an ever-growing population, diminishing biodiversity, polluted lands and oceans, a changing climate and diminishing water supplies. Despite all this, the world is beautiful and wonderful.
Jan Arthus-Bertrand is a French photographer, journalist and environmentalist. Was born in 1946 in Paris. You can see his stunning pictures of our planet, as well as read a detailed commentary on each of them (albeit in English) on the photographer's official website.

The Levitation Project. Levitation in a photo project by David Nemcsik
The career of a young Hungarian photographer David Nemczyk dates back to the entrance exams: a beginner photographer had to create a photo project for admission to the university. He immediately decided on the topic, since levitation always seemed to him something amazing and very desirable. Of course, Nemchik could not create such photographs on his own, and then friends came to his aid, who are in the pictures and soar in the air, and in the most unexpected and picturesque places. So singing
Thunder Sky. Photo of Chris Ellington's cloud battles
The stormy sky constantly attracts the eyes of artists and romantics. “I love a thunderstorm in early May,” Russian poet Fyodor Tyutchev confessed in verse. The American photographer Chris Allington could say the same about himself: every spring, when atmospheric fronts are in a hurry to converge in an annual confrontation, striking each other with lightning right into the clouds, he hurries with his camera to shoot the stormy sky over the American Great Plains
Children's Environmental Issues Through the Eyes of Children at the Children's Eyes on Earth Photo Contest
The legendary American science fiction writer asked mankind one of the most pressing questions of our time: "When our descendants see the desert into which we turned the Earth, what excuse will they find for us?" Of course, he is only one of many who tried to point out to people the need to respect nature. As well as the worldwide Children's Eyes on Earth competition for young photographers, one of the attempts to show the Earth without embellishment, as we have already inherited it from

Daniel Dancer's art projects usually involve hundreds or even thousands of participants. But it is absolutely impossible to understand the meaning of their actions while on earth. There is only one way to evaluate the author's idea - by going high into the sky
Another Earth is flat, hollow and completely unimaginable: As science fiction writers, scientists and visionaries described the Earth
The Earth is a ball, the third planet from the Sun. It would seem that there is nothing to argue about. But there are dissenters to this day. And if these statements make scientists clutch their heads, then writers and screenwriters often serve as material for inspiration
