This year, the capital of Vietnam, Hanoi, turns 1000 years old. Artist Nguyen thu thuy decided not to stay aloof from the celebration of such a grandiose anniversary and in his honor laid a wall with ceramic mosaics 3, 95 kilometers long. The gift to the city turned out to be truly unique: the wall was entered in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest in the world.
Nguyen Thu Thuy says she got the idea for the project back in 2003, when she discovered ancient bricks and ceramics from the Li Dynasty, as well as other artifacts from the Tran Dynasty, during archaeological excavations. The long past of these objects did not leave the artist indifferent, and therefore she decided that the mosaic wall would be a great reminder of the history of Vietnam.
Making mosaics from small ceramic pieces is a long process, and it is not known how long it would take Nguyen Thu Thuy if she worked alone. Therefore, the author turned to Vietnamese youth, as well as artists from other countries, with a request to help her in the implementation of a grandiose art project. As a result, craftsmen from all over the world began to come to Hanoi to leave their mark on the "Ceramic Road", as the wall was called. Some authors created mosaics on modern themes, others laid out stories from the history of Vietnam, and others reproduced famous paintings … In total, about a hundred artists from Mexico, Brazil, France, Denmark and other countries took part in the project.
Work on the "Ceramic Road" lasted from September 25 to October 5, after which the representatives of the Guinness Book of Records testified that this work is the longest mosaic in the world. The striking mosaic wall is expected to become one of the city's most popular tourist attractions.
