Video: Gods, Witches and Saints: An Immersive World of Dark Surrealism

The wind shakes the crowns of the trees, the clouds are approaching, and the skeleton, embracing the girl, mysteriously smiles at something. The song sounds, a wondrous melody spills over the hall, and people in ritual clothes gather for the ceremony. And somewhere out there, in a dark room behind closed doors, the gods and goddesses, and with them the wicked witches, fulfilling human desires, play unfair games … This could be a prehistory to some next cult book by a young author of our time, but alas, and ah - this is what awaits the viewer ahead, at the very moment when he "crossed" the threshold of the surreal world, slams the door behind him, being left alone with the paintings (Leilani Bustamante).
The author's work resembles ancient woodcarving and painting in some old manors and castles, where local legends still live. And in order to understand it inside and out, it is necessary to become one of the characters who have entered that very other dimension with strange realities and creepy fantasies, where ritual and resurrection, becoming one whole, generate symbolic images and plots with a mixture of osteological themes, from which goosebumps skin. From Arthur Rimbaud and Patrick Bateman to Snow White and the Evil Queen, from ghostly creatures to deities that leave absolutely no one indifferent. Deftly playing with colors, focusing on individual highlights, she gives the faces aristocratic and nobleness, and sometimes even diabolical beauty, and depravity, causing double impressions.
Borge Sanchez, not wanting to be on the sidelines, created an equally interesting series of works in which those living in a fantasy world come to life.

What the scientific world could not forgive Egyptologist, feminist and creator of the theory of the cult of witches Margaret Murray
The discoveries she made were attributed to others - men, of course, that was the time. But even despite all the obstacles that Margaret Murray met on her way, she managed to become a noticeable figure in science. Observed in different ways: if her successes became common achievements, the failure was, of course, attributed to her alone. And some of the assumptions made by Murray, the scientific world has not forgiven
Dark pop surrealism. Psychedelic Painting Camille Rosa Garcia
A girl with a gentle and sweet name, Camille Rose Garcia (Camille Rose Garcia) lives in America and is engaged in painting. A very peculiar painting, I would say. Experts identify her style as "Lowbrow Art" or pop surrealism. The only thing missing is the epithet "dark", or rather, "psychedelic" pop surrealism
Dark art. "Dark Art" by illustrator Erlend Mork
Norwegian artist, photographer, illustrator Erlend Mork is a master of frankly gloomy, if not suicidal paintings. As Erlend Mork himself says about his work, he draws inspiration from an obsession with philosophy, thanks to which he sees everyday life not at all what it seems to most other people. Simply put, his paintings are an attempt to imagine what is going on in the head of a mentally ill person who is forced to live in isolation from the world
Intriguing world of symbolism and surrealism: genius on the verge of madness, or madness on the verge of genius?
Strange, crazy, brilliant and beautiful - it's all about the paintings of the contemporary Bulgarian artist Stoimen Stoilov. They are the embodiment of surrealism and symbolism, where freedom of spirit, bordering on madness, causing conflicting opinions and disputes, attracts attention, leaving few people indifferent
Brightly dark surrealism and a lot. Strange paintings by Robert Stephen Connett
If you have read the works of Lewis Carroll about Alice's adventures in Wonderland, then you probably remember the episode where Walnut Sonya tells the girl the story of three Sour young ladies who live in a well with jelly and draw objects with the letter "M": mousetraps, month, math and a lot. As a little girl like Alice, I had no idea what a set was and how you could draw one. But? looking at the works of the American artist Robert Steven Connett (Robert Steven
