We all love sometimes to be slightly scared of something, and we love to laugh at something even more. Both are perfectly combined in the horror drawings of Mike Sosnowski, an animation artist who works for such famous companies as Disney and Warner Brothers, and who participates in the creation of many animated series (Tom and Jerry, Batman and others).
Mike Sosnowski was born in 1956. Graduated from the Institute of the Arts in Pittsburgh in 1977. He spent the next few years as an animator working on Ralph Bakshi's The Lord of the Rings.
For the past 22 years, Mike has been working as a storyboard artist. The essence of this work lies in the fact that at the initial stage of the creation of the film, the person in this position makes sketches (mainly in pencil) of shots from the scenes that are just about to be filmed. Mike had a ton of customers, from Warner brothers and Filmation studios to Disney.
For Warner Brothers, Mike Sosnowski, apparently, was the first to draw a series of drawings in the Horror style, looking at which the thought immediately comes to mind: "This is scary and funny." It is the scary pictures that he does best.
Mike's work has been published in various high-profile art publications in the United States. One of them was even nominated for an award for the best contemporary fantastic art. Unlike, say, Chris Buselli and his fantasy horror films, Mike's work is not so serious. As I said, this and scary and funny - that is, together with, say, creepy gremlins, a situation is created in the drawings that you cannot look at without a smile.
