People and animals, amazing landscapes and unprecedented natural phenomena. Everything that you can see with your own eyes, if you travel and look around with curiosity - in the traditional weekly selection of the best photos from National Geographic.

South African Phinda Private Game Reserve, in KwaZulu Natal province, is called a real paradise for those who love to observe wild animals in their natural habitat. So, three baby cheetahs, just a moment ago, cheerfully frolicking next to their mother in the sun, as if on purpose climbed a tree and froze in a beautiful pose, waiting for the photographer to take a picture.

South Patagonia is very beautiful. The landscapes of this area can be admired forever, especially the views of the surrounding mountains. This photo was taken in southern Patagonia, near the border with Chile. In Patagonia, gaucho means roughly the same as cowboy in North America. In Jasmina Rossi's photograph, a lone gaucho is circling its territory.

Crabeater macaques belong to the category of monkeys that occupy a vast territory from eastern India to Thailand, and from the islands of the Malay Archipelago to the Philippines. They live near the shores of sea branches and river mouths, mainly in trees, and they can swim well. These features allow macaques to freely hunt clams and crabs, which are their main treat. Which, however, is clear from their name. The photographer met this funny crab-eating macaque on the island of Borneo when he was a pilot of an airplane that transported humanitarian aid for Indonesia.

This oil tanker, a relic of the Iran-Iraq war, was sunk near the Iraqi-Kuwait border on orders from Saddam Hussein to block access to the sea in southern Iraq. Today, Kuwaiti authorities refuse to remove the vessel for fear of damaging the wetlands of neighboring Bubiyan Island, an important fish hatchery for the country.

The Arizona Plateau Paria is called one of the geological wonders of the world, because it contains the so-called White Pocket, a geological formation with a large number of small lakes with the purest clear water. On clear days, these lakes, as in a mirror, display a blue sky and snow-white clouds on it.

It doesn't look like the French Riviera, but the Kazakh capital Astana has its own Riviera - on the banks of the Esil River (the Russian name of the river is Ishim). Despite the short summer of Kazakhstan, young people often gather here to relax and flex their muscles in order to attract the attention of local beauties. The Esil River is also a popular holiday destination for fishermen. True, they gather on the opposite bank, so as not to interfere with the beach goers, and so that vacationers do not interfere with them.

A truly fresh spring photograph of the Mongolian steppes. An ocean of greenery stretches for many kilometers of the most sparsely populated country, whose area is larger than Alaska, and hardly 3 million people live on it. Mongolian culture is mobile, independent, free, like horses grazing in the steppes. The famous historian Baabar claims that when foreigners move to the Mongolian capital of Ulan Bator, they bring their mentality with them, and thereby replenish and develop the local culture, making it even richer and more interesting.

Photos from National Geographic are like a small trip around the world every time, only in photos. Well, or be reflected on the pages of Cultural Studies, dedicated to photographs for April 08-14 from
