Some people have such a strong love for food that even while doing other things, they continue to think about all sorts of goodies. Nicolas Lampert, for example, just loves meat. Moreover, this information can be learned not from his interview or autobiography: all you need to do is look at at least one of his photo collages.
In his series of works "Meatscapes", which can be translated as "meat landscapes", the author combined ordinary photography and various meat products in one image. Moreover, on some collages, huge pieces of meat fit so organically into the overall picture that at first you mistake them for a mountain or a pile of stones.
Of course, in fact, it was not at all the love of meat that caused the creation of such unusual collages. According to Nicholas himself, he is worried about the idea of dubious land use: “In Wisconsin, where I live, most of the rural land is used for grazing cows and other cattle, so I decided to represent this situation in graphic form. My Meat Landscapes portrays this issue in a very delicate way."
The author admits that viewers perceive his works ambiguously. Some see in them the glorification of meat as food, while others take the opposite point of view. Nicholas hopes that while his images carry an element of humor, they can still make people think about the serious problems consumerism and its impact on the environment are fraught with.
Nicholas Lampert was born in 1969. He currently lives alternately in Milwaukee and Chicago. Nicholas is an interdisciplinary artist who has worked in a variety of formats over more than 15 years of creative career, including animated films, wall murals, stencil painting, installations, digital printing.
