Young Russian documentary photographer Yana Romanova is the author of the project with the self-explanatory name "Waiting". To implement the plan, the photographer asked several couples awaiting replenishment in the family to become the heroes of her photo shoot.
The photographer worked early in the morning, when the parents-to-be were still asleep - so, if you believe the author's idea, you can better understand the feelings and moods of a couple who is on the verge of such an important and exciting event in their life. Yana admits that, as a rule, she knows very little about the people she is shooting. Only then, looking at the footage, Yana makes assumptions about what kind of families they are, how relationships are built in a couple, how future parents relate to each other.
The photo project was born almost by accident. Once Yana was helping her friends, a young couple who were preparing to become parents, with minor repairs around the house. The guys forgot to remove the stepladder - it was in the middle of the room, very close to the bed. In the morning, while friends were asleep, Yana climbed the stairs and took some pictures as a keepsake. Only then did she get the idea to develop the idea and arrange a big photo project.
Yana Romanova was born in St. Petersburg in 1984. Graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of St. Petersburg State University, then studied at the Faculty of Photojournalists named after V. I. YA Galperin at the Union of Journalists. Has a number of publications, including in such magazines as: "Russian Reporter", PDN magazine (USA), Der Spiegel (Germany), Geo (France, Russia) and many others. He exhibits and teaches a lot, and since 2011 he has been supervising educational courses "Idea and Image" and "Experience and Proof" at the Faculty of Photojournalists. Yu. A. Galperin.

London photographer Ana Oliveira conceived an interesting photography project: she asked ordinary people to find their photographs - portraits or family photos taken twenty, thirty and even, (as in one case), sixty years ago and … to be photographed in a similar position and in a similar setting. Many people liked this idea, people responded with joy. This is how the project "Personalities" ("Identidades") was born
