Benoit Maubrey designs electro-acoustic clothing. It consists of costumes equipped with loudspeakers, amplifiers and samplers. With this equipment, dresses can directly respond to their surroundings, recording nearby live sounds, voices or instruments and amplifying them for a moving and multi-acoustic performance. In addition, costumes can include radios, contact microphones, light sensors, and other electronic devices to create, mix, and reproduce their own sounds. The author also uses self-charging and solar panels, thanks to which the models in dresses can move freely both inside and outside the premises.
There is little harmony in the sounds that the author's outfits emit, but more dissonance. Some critics use the word "atonal" to describe the broadcast noise, but this should not be taken as an insult. The author himself says that his work should not be perceived as traditional music. “We are dealing with sound that is ephemeral. Sound is a three-dimensional sculpture that is visible to the ear. " Therefore Benoit Maubrey calls himself an acoustic sculptor, not a composer.
