They say that motherhood inspires, gives women a second wind. But if you don't try it on yourself, you won't believe it. This is what happened to the Canadian artist. Elly MacKay, who relatively recently became the mother of a charming baby Lily and thanks to this event drew attention to the fact that children have very few books with high-quality, good and kind pictures. So she decided to make her own contribution to the development of this industry. Childhood is a special world, a separate state with its own laws, principles and concepts, says the artist. And the task of adults is to study this world, bringing only good and good things into it. For example, books, songs, cartoons, toys, or, here, illustrations for stories and fairy tales.
As a child, Ellie McKay's favorite fairy tale was "The Snow Queen". That is why, having matured and learned to paint, she drew a series of illustrations for this fairy tale. Then there were other images, not always for finished works, but just as naive and light as the first ones.
Ellie McKay is a member of the Canadian Society of Children's Authors, Illustrators and Performers, and all illustrations created by the artist for and for children can be viewed in her gallery on Flickr.
