Give Japanese artist Teppei Kaneuji any item and he will turn it into a work of art. Installations and sculptures by Teppei Kaneuji are artistic eclectic structures of the most varied and bizarre shapes and outlines, consisting of both incompatible material and similar to anatomical specimens of recently discovered organisms.
The sculptural work of the young artist Teppei Kaneuji consists of common everyday objects - toys, plastic bottles, cards, scissors, twigs, wooden items, dishes, magazine clippings. Teppei Kaneuji sculptures are visual puzzles that break down the boundaries between movement and immutable constancy, between matter and illusion. Using the collage technique, in other words, disassembling, separating and breaking individual objects, the author rearranges, glues and puts together his very strange installations from all this jumble.
“I want to create something that makes you feel like you've seen it before,” says Teppei Kaneuji. When creating, for example, an installation made of plastic or wood, he uses objects and things that are familiar to everyone. Therefore, the sculptural works of the Japanese artist evoke pleasant childhood memories in the viewer associated with a particular game they played, the characters they imitated, or associated with a set of images and paintings that evoke a number of associations.
Recently, a solo exhibition of works by the young Japanese artist Teppei Kaneuji entitled "Melting City / Empty Forest" was held at the Uokohama Museum of Art, Japan.
