At first glance, these images resemble pictures from a kaleidoscope or a complex ornament of bright tropical flowers. And only then comes the realization that people are parts of the intricate pattern, and the flowers are actually made of pink flamingos!
Like many famous artists before her, photographer and animator Cassandra Jones interprets the work of others in her own art forms. Using photographs found in a vast catalog of digital images, Cassandra arranges them in an elaborate way, resulting in delightful compositions that breathe new life into the original. With just a few clicks, graceful pink flamingos or dancing girls from a sports team cheerleading group transform into a kaleidoscope of intricate patterns or tropical flowers.
The installation "Good Cheer" is made in the form of wall-paper, where the patterns are created from photographs of girls from the support groups of sports teams found by Cassandra. As conceived by the author, the images in which girls dressed in uniforms stand on one leg carry a double connotation of family values and pornography.
No less amazing kaleidoscopic patterns were obtained by Cassandra in her installation "Rara Avis". Can you guess at first glance that this exquisite wallpaper is made from images of pink flamingos?
The Rara Avis series is not only wall-papers, but also bouquets of stunning beauty. But they are based on the same flamingos.
Born in the United States in 1975, Cassandra Jones received her BA and MA from Carnegie Mellon University, and currently lives and works in Ojai, California and New York. Her work is featured in public and private collections in the United States, Canada, Germany and the Czech Republic.

Cassandra Syndrome: Predictions That No One Believed Could Avert Disasters
Cassandra is the heroine of ancient Greek mythology, whom Apollo, who was in love with her, endowed with the gift of foresight. But she did not reciprocate, and the angry god made it so that no one believed the girl's prophecies. Cassandra predicted the cause of the death of Troy, but she was ridiculed and considered insane. Subsequently, there were many cases in history when clairvoyants tried to warn people about impending disasters, but they were not listened to. This phenomenon is called Cassandra syndrome
