The work of artist Monika Grzymala seems to be aimed at building relationships with space. Monica is the author of stunning installations, which she herself prefers to call drawings, emphasizing the special performative aspect of her work.
Through her work, Monica "visualizes" thinking. Installations consisting of strips of adhesive tape look unusual and intriguing in the exhibition space. A kind of three-dimensional graphics, which Monica is engaged in, is an interesting artistic experiment. Black ribbons in a contrasting white art space look very dramatic. It seems that they are being released directly from the walls and burst into the world of people, entangling space, bypassing corners, wrapping around the columns …
Today the artist lives and works in Germany. At first she lived in Hamburg, but now Berlin has become her refuge. For many years, her creative path has been inextricably linked with this country. The artist studied art at several local universities, specializing mainly in sculpture. An elderly professor once noticed that her interest and talent extended not so much to the objects themselves as to their relationships. It was then that Monica began to rethink her work. The nature of her work began to undergo significant changes - she gradually began to move away from sculpture, devoting more and more time to drawing and the arrangement of objects in space. So, gradually, she came to what she is successfully doing to this day.
The artist was born in Zabrze, Poland in 1970. In 1980, she and her family moved to Germany. The artist earned her degree in fine arts from the Bildende Kunste Graduate School in Hamburg. She currently works a lot and exhibits. Her exhibitions are successfully held both in Germany and in other countries, including the UK and the USA.
A similar formation was experienced by Monika Gzhimala's colleague, Swiss Fabian Burgi. The master also started out as a sculptor, then worked for a long time in graphic design and studied new media technologies. His work explores the aesthetics of objects and things through an unusual collision of objects, choice of environment and situation. However, unlike Monica Gzhimala, Burga's works are virtual. His installations are stunning visualizations of objects in digital form.
