This is exactly what the British artist and sculptor Karen Caldicott, who has lived in Brooklyn for a long time, decided and did. She recently moved to a small, quiet village, and now, far from the bustle of the city, she gives herself up to her work with her head, without external hindrances.
Karen Caldicott still remembers the time when she rode a bicycle through the whole of New York to convey the drawn illustrations to the client, and now she is happy that the Internet allows her to work and live in the countryside, being always in touch with the client and keeping up with all the events. … And when the sculptor does not create her three-dimensional portraits for many American publications, including New York magazine, The New York Times, TIME, she can be found working in the garden, or walking in the woods.
Karen Caldicott creates plasticine sculptures, depicting mainly famous and famous people: politicians, singers, actors, even cartoon characters. A series of plasticine sculptures was born from the artist's idea of taking her two-dimensional illustrations to the next level. First, Karen makes sketches of the future model of the portrait, then creates a plasticine sculpture, and only then photographs it, sending the finished work to the customer. Sometimes the sculptures are hand-painted, but more often the images are processed in Photoshop to use color.
