An amazing, unlike anyone else's manner, clear sharp lines, the use of mastic (which allows you to make pictures more voluminous), rich colors and an amazing mood of everyday, but at the same time, special life. This and much more can be said about the paintings of the St. Petersburg artist Dmitry Kustanovich.
The master definitely found his own style, which became a real discovery for Russian impressionism, and the art world in general. He is "one of the few artists who, while causing a lot of controversy around him, at the same time received colossal recognition and love of the audience."
The artist was born in Belarus, in the city of Minsk on March 29, 1970, but now lives and works in St. Petersburg. Dmitry received a musical education, which only helped in his further creative activity: it is quite possible that the atmosphere of the paintings is achieved thanks to rather “rhythmic” lines, geometrically eternal proportions (and the feeling of rhythm and proportionality is one of the most important qualities for musicians).
Vitaly Tretyakov speaks of the artist's style as follows: “It is difficult to understand a miracle - after all, it is a miracle, but the 'Kustanovich case' seems simple. First, Dmitry Kustanovich has courage. The courage of a sparkling carnival, and this is both a glamorous holiday of the elite, and a massive masquerade of paper masks. Kustanovich's carnivalism is akin to the carnivalism of Rabelais and Shakespeare - it leaves no one indifferent. Secondly, Dmitry Kustanovich is a workaholic, and talent is something that needs to be dug out every day. And of course, thirdly, the fact that his artistic technique is extremely original in terms of figurative depth. Having looked at his works, it is not possible to continue the phrase: "Kustanovich looks like …", but on a rainy day or frosty morning I just want to say: "Like Kustanovich."
Dmitry Kustanovich has many personal exhibitions, his paintings can be found in many private collections around the world. Each painting of the master is unique, they can be divided into cycles, each of which is completely special: there are landscapes, flowers, and even fairy-tale and book characters. The artist's style amazes the viewer, one feels that the paintings are painted with soul and great skill and professionalism. This artist really deserves to become the successor of the glorious traditions of the great Russian masters!
Recently, the artist opened his own gallery in St. Petersburg, it is located on Konyushennaya Street in the eleventh building (information for residents of the cultural capital who may want to visit it). You can also see Kustanovich's paintings on the Internet at his website.
