A magical kinetic sculpture has appeared at Singapore's Changi Airport. 608 raindrops, made of lightweight aluminum, move in a slow dance to enchant the audience. The exquisite choreography lasts 15 minutes - shiny droplets slide on thin cables, moving in sync, then breaking into two waves.
Installation creators, studio designers ART + COM, they say that the installation process was very difficult. The main challenge was to build an appropriate set of tools to control the trajectory of the droplets.
While developing the concept of kinetic sculptures, the authors also considered a variant of an installation that creates three-dimensional figures in space. She looked like the first Kinetic sculpture, installed in Berlin - there the outlines of a BMW car were formed from small balls. But the designers decided that the golden drops, covered with a thin layer of copper, more reflect the history and specifics of the Singapore airport. After all, frequent rains are an integral part of the tropical climate.
To see this beautiful rig in action, it's worth watching the video filmed by the creators.
