When in 1988 came out film "Little Faith", 55 million viewers watched it in cinemas - a record number at that time! The main roles in the film were performed Natalia Negoda and Andrey Sokolovwho are now called the main sex symbols of the 1980s. The film was too frank, even by the standards of the perestroika period. At the premiere in the Moscow House of Cinema, they shouted "Shame", letters from viewers angry at immoral scenes came to the newspapers, Sokolov's mother cried out of shame after watching. The controversy surrounding the film continues now: would the film have had such a success if there were no erotic scenes in it, and can Natalia Negoda be called a really talented actress?

Director Vasily Pichul saw Irina Apeksimova as the main character of the film, but she was busy filming another film and refused. Yana Poplavskaya and Alik Smekhova also claimed the role of Vera. Natalia Negoda was not approved for the role for a long time: the director was not enthusiastic about her previous work in the cinema ("Tomorrow was the war"). But artistic director Tatyana Lioznova still insisted on her candidacy. The director later said: “And I am grateful both to fate and to Tatyana Lioznova, because Negoda became the nerve that brought energy to the film. This is my first film, there are a lot of mistakes in it, but no one sees them, because there is energy there."

The filming took place in the director's hometown - Zhdanov (now Mariupol). Perhaps so much of the ugly truth about the life of a provincial town and hit the screens because the author knew all this firsthand. So much hopeless melancholy and hopeless despair shone through in every shot that many of them rejected it, reluctance to accept the truth as bitter as it is. The film was called both "breaking the foundations" and libel.

Natalia Negoda was invited to international film festivals, the film was purchased for distribution in 12 countries, an offer was made to become a foreign co-host at the Oscar ceremony and to appear for the cover of Playboy magazine. A lot of people then said that the only merit of Indignation was their uncomplaining readiness to be naked in front of the camera. The actress herself urged the audience to see what was in the film besides the erotic scenes: “It seems to me that 'little Vera' is not just my heroine. This has a different meaning. It is a small world of little people with little dreams. And my Faith cannot get out of this world."

Inspired by her success, the actress decided to conquer Hollywood and left for the States. She starred in several films ("Back to the USSR", "Comrade for the Summer", "Law and Order"), but she failed to achieve success abroad. And in Russia she was perceived as an actress of one role and was not invited to act in films. Natalia Negoda lived in Los Angeles for a long time, but she no longer cherished hopes of becoming a famous Hollywood actress. The return to Moscow was not triumphant, now Natalia lives in two countries.
