A bad designer is the one who didn't create his own font. Judging from this point of view, the Spanish Sonia Lamera Is a good designer. Or rather, not so much a designer as an artist. After all, her work is a real art. Including the alphabet Visual Alphabet with Books, created, as it is easy to understand from the name, from books.
Recently, artists, following designers, have begun to create their own versions of fonts. Among such ministers of the muses, who were not alien to the glory of Cyril, Methodius and Gutenberg, one can name the artist Yoriko Yoshida, who created the Latin alphabet in Japanese, or Yvette Yang, who invented the Fashion Font fashion alphabet, which is updated every six months.. Spanish artist Sonia Lamera was also not averse to experimenting in this field. So she created the font Visual Alphabet with Books, where the letters are made from books.
There is a certain paradox in this. The usual process looks like this: letters merge into words, words - into sentences, sentences - into books. And here everything happens quite the opposite - the smallest typographic units, letters are created from ready-made books.
Sonia Lamera carried out this project with her colleague Claudia Borralho. Together, they constructed "book" versions of all twenty-six letters of the English alphabet, photographed them and created a presentation in the form of a small brochure called Visual Alphabet with Books.
