American Peter Saul (Peter Saul) is a renowned author of entertaining and provocative films. As an "anti-conformist" and "bad guy" in painting, he mixes beauty and ugliness, romance and savagery in works that are simply disarming. After all, the main goal of the artist is to offend and give the viewer pleasure at the same time.

For several decades now, Peter Saul has been "a critic in the art world, dancing alone to the sound of his special bagpipes." In his incredibly lively, colorful, absurd, sometimes surreal and often grotesque works, the author comments on various aspects of modern American culture and often makes fun of them. Critics see elements of pop art, figurative art and expressionism in the artist's paintings.

Each painting is preceded by a pencil sketch. The author chooses a topic for himself and tries to look at it from the point of view of an American. “I think of films with John Wayne that I’ve never seen and don’t even intend to watch. But in my imagination, in one way or another, I draw to myself both them and the comic magazines, the names of which I can hardly remember,”says the author. Usually Peter redraws the original sketch six to seven times, until he is satisfied with the result and finally starts painting the picture. But here, too, the author constantly finds some flaws that he does not get tired of redrawing and correcting.
