Fantastic not because they depict something transcendent, fabulous or mythological. Fantastic, because the creator of these mosaic frescoes, artist Lewis Lavoie, does incredible things. One such work is several dozen or even hundreds of works of art at once, since it is composed of small portraits, landscapes, still lifes and other paintings written by Lewis Laveau especially for this purpose.
His first work, called "Adam", Laveau created back in 1997. 12 years have passed since then, and in comparison with those large-scale works that the artist pleases viewers with today, the "pilot" mosaic is considered almost the smallest work.
By the way, Lewis Laveau is a deeply religious person, and therefore paintings on biblical themes often become elements of his work. I don’t know what influenced the formation of this position of the artist: the fact that he painted the walls of temples and churches for a long time, or he painted these structures precisely because he is religious. Today the artist is working on one project, which experts and connoisseurs will surely name the largest and most iconic work of art in its field. The mosaic is called "King of Kings". According to the author's idea, this fresco will consist of 195 portraits of kings and queens of all times and peoples, from ancient times to contemporaries. Well, where can we go without American presidents! All of them will also be on this mural, led by George Washington, who has already been drawn and assigned to the place of honor in the upper left corner of the painting.
There was also a place for our fellow countrymen. Thus, the Russian Empress Catherine the Great occupies cell number 192, Ivan the Terrible - number 63, and in the process - the creation of portraits of Joseph Stalin and Mikhail Gorbachev.
The rest of Lewis Lavoie's work is available on the Muralmosaic website. And the process of creating "Adam" can be seen in this video:
