Are you ready for a massive offensive of superheroes, zombies, furry animals, warlike maidens with swords, aliens, witches, ghouls and robots? Or maybe you don't even know what unites all these cute creatures? Well, of course! After all, they are all - comic book heroes, which means that they are all parachuted into San Diego for the world's greatest gathering of eccentrics, utterly carried away by drawn fantasies. Welcome to world of comics!
International festival San Diego Comic-Con International takes place every year since 1970. In this blessed decade, America has been literally taken over by comics and board games, fantasy and space operas. The festival was founded by one of the first fans of comics, the late Shel Dorf. He just wanted to gather his friends and their friends for a fun party - and 300 people came. A lot! And 41 years later, there were a little more of them: 140,000 … let's say, visitors.
After all, not all of them are people. What's the point of going to a convention if you don't wear an amazing costume? The audience is simply teeming with superheroes, aliens, robots and undead: for many, comics are not even a hobby, but a way of life. Both directors and actors (for example, the cult "Buffy" - Sara-Michelle Gellar) and producers of games and cartoons come to join the world of comics: after all, their most loyal fans are here! The first news from the world of games is often published here, so nosy journalists are just teeming all over the place. On Comic-Con-2011 presented a new part of the "Twilight Saga" (personally by Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart), but the audience, unfortunately, did not have time to buy the tomatoes.
This modern Sabbath is still in full swing: it lasts 4 days, during which the participants barely have time to look at others and show themselves. At the convention, the award is given to the masters of science fiction, comics and animation: "Inkwell" (Inkpot Award). And if you want to go to Comic-Con-2012, then start buying tickets in February: they are completely dismantled 8 hours after going on sale. Yes, get in world of comics not easy - but even harder to get out of it.
