Attention was drawn to the fact that the name is very much like the name of Paul Gauguin, who is a famous artist. The publication says that the new algorithm from the specialists of the world famous company can turn even the simplest sketches into interesting and beautiful landscapes.

A small video was even made, which is designed to acquaint interested people with the principles of the new neural network GauGAN. You can see that the user has several tools available, he has the ability to determine the type of object that will be present in the picture. You can choose from objects such as cloud, rock, sand, water, grass, stone, tree and others.

Initially, the user has to create a simple sketch and entrust the rest of the work of the neural network. The algorithm will process such an image and turn unattractive sketches into a landscape that, in its realism, will look more like not a picture, but a real photograph of nature. When processing the sketch and further transforming it, the new algorithm takes into account not only the wishes of the user, he also pays attention to some small and at the same time very important details, which are reflections in water, shadows and others.

It is worth noting that to train the algorithm, specialists had to use about one million images of nature, which were taken from the Flickr hosting. The abundance of material for training now allows GauGAN to create hundreds of thousands of their own landscapes based on user sketches.

Already, the results of using the program are amazing and boggle the imagination of many people. It should be noted that at the moment the program still makes mistakes during operation, which, upon close examination, can be seen on the contours of objects. And yet for a person who just wants to be an artist for a while, this is not so important. Nvidia says that in the future, the work of the neural network will be improved by its specialists.
