Tireless Malaysian Artist Hong Yi, also known as Red, continues to set records for creative productivity. This time she decided to create ten portraits famous people For two weeks April 2013!
Throughout March and early April, the world watched as Hong Yi creates a new artwork every day and posts its image on his page in the Instagram service. And before the passion for this large-scale project had subsided, Red started a new one! She decided to please her fans with ten portraits of famous people from all over the world, created in completely different genres and manners of execution.
Most of the people depicted, of course, represent the Asian continent. For example, here you can see a portrait of the Chinese patriarch Ai Weiwei, made from seeds (an allusion to his work Sunflower Seeds), the famous basketball player Yao Ming, painted with a basketball dipped in paint, Taiwanese pop artist Jay Chu, created from the traces of coffee cups …
Director Zhang Yimou was drawn by Red using 750 pairs of socks, while singer ADELE was drawn from 2,000 leaked wax candles. Olympic badminton champion Lee Chong Wei is made of shuttlecock plumage, and Burmese female politician Aung San Suu Kyi is made of 2,000 plastic cups filled with different colored liquids.
Non-Asian personalities whose portraits were presented by Hong Yi as part of this project include the founder of the social network Facebook Mark Zuckerberg (Red made his book "Game of Thrones") and singer Justin Bieber, painted on a plate using chili sauce.
However, not all of these portraits were painted by the Malaysian artist directly in April 2013. Some of them, connoisseurs of her work have already seen before. So Hong Yi only collected her old works, diluting them with new ones. However, all the same, this girl cannot be denied originality and talent.
