As a result, the hated porcelain flowers turned out to be alive, delighting the public. In a New York store, whose owner was happy to exhibit the master's works, they flew with a bang, buying up not only rich collectors, but also famous designers, many of whom were European. So soon graceful porcelain peonies, poppies and lilies of the valley appeared in the collections of several crowned persons, and ceramic bouquets became a pleasant addition and decoration of interiors not only in America, but also in Europe.
Before moving to America, Vladimir worked as an architect, designing public buildings in Leningrad and residential quarters in his native Kharkov. Once in New York, he immediately faced all the difficulties of a newly arrived immigrant. In a foreign country, without connections, experience and money, Vladimir willingly took on any job that could at least feed him. As a successful architect, in this situation he had to create porcelain flowers, which were much easier and easier to sell than sculpture.
His porcelain bouquets and flowers, gaining immense popularity primarily due to their incredible realism, in the blink of an eye began to scatter around the world. Delicate lilies of the valley, velvet peonies, graceful daffodils, lush roses and stunningly realistic lilacs are all the result of delicate, impeccable work and craftsmanship. A few years later, Vladimir received an offer from the Parisian boutique of the Dior fashion house. He was offered to make several custom-made compositions. …
But, despite his immense popularity, Vladimir continued to disdain his creations, believing that his true vocation was sculpture. And only now, when he is already well over sixty, he finally found the perfect balance between his own desires and the demands of the market. He realized that porcelain flowers are a big part of his work, which is really in demand. And he sincerely fell in love with them for this, jokingly remembering and assuring that even in his school years, botany was his favorite subject.
