Video: What are singers who became hit stars in the 1990s today?
2024 Author: Richard Flannagan | [email protected]. Last modified: 2023-12-15 23:55
It is not clear what is more terrible for an artist - not to become famous at all, or to flare up with one role or a hit and fade away. The higher the popularity of a hit, the more likely it is that this level of success will never be achieved. A huge number of hits, to which someone danced at school discos, others met their love, experienced partings and other key emotions for a growing personality, are not just not forgotten, but refer to the time "twelve years ago." What happened to the performers of the cult songs of the era?
Yana Budyanskaya "Lonely Dove" 1998
How many girls were going through a difficult puberty together with “… what have I done, tell me. I wanted to be your friend, understand …”The fact that the song is loved is evidenced not only by the fact that now the overwhelming part has continued further along the text of the song, but also by a huge number of covers and remakes. And this is just the case when the song is remembered by everyone, and the performer is only a few.
Yana Budyanskaya, although at that time the singer used only her name, burst onto the stage like the same dove, but after performing her hit, she also suddenly disappeared. However, in the same 1998 she manages to release a solo album and her other songs are gaining some popularity, but then only the fans of the performer began to listen to them (of which, in fairness, it should be noted, there were a lot), and now no one will remember at all.
Two years after the hit was released, Yana became a mother and left the stage. In 2014, she performed at the Disco of the 90s, her appearance on the stage almost went unnoticed by the audience, but as soon as the first notes of "Lonely Dove" sounded, the audience roared. Yana herself, apparently, barely coped with the surging emotions.
Non-toys "100 days to order" 1999
The group itself was born a couple of years earlier, when the spouses Anna, Timur and their mutual friend Tatyana decided to record a couple of songs for a narrow circle at their home studio. But it was not limited to a narrow circle, one of their songs was to the liking of Vadim Volodin, who became their producer. Songs began to be written, images changed, tours began.
The army song about 100 days before the order immediately fell in love with the listener, it was constantly played on radio stations. The group is already in great demand, heads the charts, they are recognized, they are invited to tour in different cities. But the viewer asks for the same song over and over again. At concerts I had to perform "100 days before the order" more than once, and not twice. The group has already released three albums, but each has included its legendary song, slightly modifying it. It is clear that it would not have been possible to exploit the same work for a long time with all the desire. And there were no new hits that could surpass the fame of the previous song.
All the songs of the group were written by the participants themselves, the soloist Anna Sviridova sang from childhood, knows how to play the piano and has been studying music all her life. Their group broke up at the end of 2000, but Anna does not give up music lessons, although she does not harbor ambitions regarding her popularity, for her it is more of a hobby. In 2018, she even released the album "I am always with you", which came to the liking of her fans, who have been following her work since those times. A year later, she released another album, which included songs that had not been released since 1996.
Balagan Limited "What do you want?" 1996 year
The group, consisting of two guys and two girls, was created in the town of Rybinsk. The soloist of the group Elena Gromova brought with her to the capital an audio cassette with their songs and gave them to listen to the "necessary" people. Beginners became interested in performers. So Balagan Limited got a producer with whom a contract was signed. The very first song of the group became a hit and folk motives, along with the ironic plot of the song "What do you want?" appealed to listeners of all ages.
The group worked, published albums (there were three of them). But later it turned out that the producer, whom the musicians trusted, registered the Balagan Limited trademark in his own name and is its sole copyright holder. At the first misunderstandings, he disbanded the previous lineup and recruited a new team, which began to act under this name.
The group, however, did not disband, they decided to perform under the name of their hit in order to create a reference for the listener. One of the soloists left the group, but the team still exists today, although there was no longer any noticeable hit from them.
Natalya Shturm "School Romance" 1994
Natalia became a star thanks to her husband Alexander Novikov. He wrote lyrics for her and promoted her. First, she released an album, and in the same year her husband wrote a real hit for her, which made her a star, albeit for a short time.
The text of the song "School Romance" is rather sad and evokes thoughts of separation. She became prophetic for the relationship between Sturm and her chansonnier husband. They parted with scandals and still, even many years later, do not want to hear anything about each other. Natalia has repeatedly tried to continue her singing career, but without her husband writing poetry, she did not succeed.
Later she began to write novels, in total there were five of them, most of which are purely female reading about the vicissitudes of love. Now, once a popular singer, she constantly appears on various talk shows on various TV channels as a guest expert and star. But in the role of a singer you will not often meet her.
Leprechauns "Hali-gali, paratrupper" 1999
The Belarusian boy band appeared in 1997, but gained popularity throughout the post-Soviet space and all thanks to one single song with an incomprehensible name. It is difficult to imagine a disco of the 2000s without "Hali-Gali, Paratrupper", they went to showdowns and dates under it, yes, every iron sang it!
Despite this, few people know that the name of the song is not just a set of letters, it is a song about attractions and it was on them that the heroes of the song flew all night, and not what everyone had time to think. And in general, the guys wrote a song for the amusement park, even indicating the name "Paratrupper" and "Super 8" were planning to sing it in the summer on the stage for visitors to the park. That was such a publicity stunt. Who could have guessed that they would sing it both in Russia and in the CIS countries, and not just in their own park?
After the recording, the song hit the radio, and then the KVN group remade it, so wide popularity came to it.
Ladybug "Granite Pebble" 1995
The group was founded by Vladimir Volenko, who worked as a keyboard player in many popular groups and was very busy on the stage, so he often had no fuse for his own group. The popularity of "Ladybug" came with the song "Granite Pebble", the listeners liked the song, but many caught the similarity of the loss with the composition of the Briton Chris Rea.
In honor of the 25th anniversary of the song, Volenko changed the loss of the song, removing all the similarities, but even then it didn’t work to please the fans, now it seems to them that the song doesn’t sound the same as before (of course). However, neither one nor the other circumstance prevents them from singing along with the song with simple text for the third decade already.
The group has released 13 albums and continues to operate. Despite this, it has not yet been possible to repeat and even more so to surpass the success of a granite stone.
Rock Islands "Say Nothing" 1997
The group was founded in 1986, the guys recorded good songs, gave a tour, and so more than 10 years passed. It was then that unprecedented popularity came to them along with their "incorruptible" - the song "Say Nothing". The song and the video for it were extremely popular, the image of the lead singer of the group, Vladimir Zakharov, was especially remembered, when he appeared in dark glasses and with long hair fluttering in the wind.
Zakharov still wears glasses and long hair, as befits a respectable rock performer, a representative of the "old school". The group still exists, they give concerts and who knows, maybe their new hits are still ahead? In the meantime, at concerts, they most often ask for their legendary "Do not say anything".
Vyacheslav Bykov "My beloved" 1997
The song, melodic and touching in its sincerity, immediately appealed to girls of all ages. "Medlyak" sounded at all discos, guys wishing to please girls learned chords and played it on the guitar, yes, that there, the Prima Donna herself invited Bykov to "Christmas meetings" with this song.
Despite the fact that Bykov has released 9 albums, no other song has brought him such popularity as "My Beloved". However, the name of the performer managed to thunder again, but the son brought notoriety, who attacked a couple in the park with a knife. Bykov's son was declared insane and placed under compulsory treatment and recently returned to his once famous father.
Svetlana Roerich "Ladoshki" 1997
In the dashing 90s, the girl Sveta left her native Krasnoyarsk Territory and came to Moscow. In the capital, she came in handy, in the mid-90s her first album was released, which, however, did not bring her much popularity. But already in 1997, she literally blew up the charts with her ingenuous song "Ladoshki" with an obsessive motive.
The video for the song, with the participation of novice actors, only added popularity to the composition. By that time, the performer had already released her third album, but she was forced to leave the tour after she had a fight with the producer. Moreover, their relationship was so tense that criminal authorities hired by her former producer came to Svetlana.
After completing her musical career, she received her education and worked as a public relations specialist. Now she occasionally performs, of course, she cannot do without her main hit.
Sergey Krylov "My Girl" 1992
Completeness did not prevent this performer, full of charisma and charisma, from being liked by women. It is not surprising, because everyone liked his hit "My Girl" so much that even decades later, who heard him once, immediately pick up the tune.
He was studying at the theater institute when he was invited to be the host of a program for young people. This did not prevent him from developing as a musician. The 90s was the peak of his career as a showman, a musician, he tried to act in films and everywhere he succeeded. He is also lucky in his personal life, now he lives in a second marriage.
Now he lives in Sochi, he is the organizer of the cultural program of the night hockey league. He continues to perform as a musician, sometimes even abroad. And yes, he lost weight.
SashaCh "Only you won't come today" 1997
The girl chose an unusual pseudonym by combining the name and the first letter of the surname, so from Alexandra Chugunova it turned out SashaCh. She appeared on the screens unexpectedly, together with the Quartet I group, filming a video for the sad, melodic and very memorable song “Only you won't come today”. And hundreds of girls again rushed to be sad to the sound of this hit, which was interrupted only by the sound of the rain. In general, the option was a win-win.
After this hit, she covered the song of the group "Kolibri" and disappeared from all radars. However, Alexander did not abandon the stage and now she is the soloist of the rock group "Mukha" - this is an alternative project of the musician of the group "Nogu Svelo!" Anton Yakomulsky.
Mr. Minor "I will die young" 1992
At the age of 12, he became interested in dancing, or to be more precise, the popular breakdancing at that time. He often attended themed evenings, where he made acquaintances, which proved to be very useful in his musical career. It was then that he proposed to create a group and participate in the Generation-94 competition. After they managed to come out on top, the creative career of Mister Small began.
He later recorded an album and became famous. However, it was not entirely clear to the 9th grade student what to do with this celebrity. Naturally, early fame, permissiveness and success, which quickly faded away, had a destructive effect on his psyche, and he often had suicidal thoughts. Now he occasionally appears on the screen, writes songs.
Svetlana Vladimirskaya "My Boy" 1993
An excellent video was shot for the song, which already became a hit. It is now significant also because Kirill Andreev, who at that time was not yet Ivanushka, took part in it. However, the unconditional success of the song did not captivate the performer. She abandoned everything without regret and left for the village of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
Yes, at that time she married the producer Mark Bolshoi and believed that she would now devote herself to family and children. However, it happened, and, despite the fact that they parted with her husband, she has three daughters and a son.
Not so long ago, she appeared on one of the talk shows and talked about her fate, saying that sometimes she was overcome by doubts about whether she did the right thing by leaving show business. But years later, she is sure that she did everything right.
Freestyle "Oh, what a woman" 1995
By the time the song "Oh, what a woman" was released, the Freestyle group had existed for no less than 7 years. But the songs did not bring success, and this hit became simply paradoxically in demand throughout the post-Soviet space. However, after this song the story continued - the songs continued to be released, but they were practically not interesting to the listener.
What is the phenomenon of this song? Few people manage to fill the text with clichés, moreover the most hackneyed and vulgar. Here is the pier of the poet who has gone on a spree, and he has been caressing you for a long time and his intoxicated head. And at the end of the test: “Oh, what a woman! I would like this”And nothing, a lot of women sang along, not seeing any discriminatory motives in the text.
The image in which the soloist appears in the video also deserves attention. A man with long hair in a jacket would say oversized now. In one word, "poet" and nothing more!
It's no secret that talent alone is not enough for success; you also need to be in the right place at the right time. 7 Russian stars definitely managed to catch their luck by the tail.
