If in the land of the Soviets they did not know how to do something, then they definitely should not classify information. Moreover, the government has successfully managed not only to decide what citizens know, but even what to think about and what to talk about. All this looks like a grandiose experiment on a national scale, although there were much more of the latter, and many of them are still classified as "secret". However, this does not prevent now, when the country of Soviets no longer exists, to discuss these experiments, to give birth to a lot of myths and conjectures. What was actually true and what was invented after the collapse of the Soviet Union?

The Soviet government almost immediately became concerned with the secrecy of data and encryption of all operational messages. At first it was necessary to conduct revolutionary activities, and then to prevent undermining their activities. However, whole departments worked in the USSR, the activities of which can be called pseudo-scientific, but positive work, which could lead to a serious breakthrough on a global scale.

Neuroenergy as a science of the future

Stalin is often accused of near-cultural interests and support for such developments. However, this direction was more likely scientific research, and not a dense forest, as they often try to imagine. A special cryptographic section was created by the resolution of the Council of People's Commissars, it was led by Gleb Bokiya. This department was notable for the fact that it was in charge of the most extraordinary phenomena and incidents. Including telepathy, hypnosis, various kinds of psychoemotional influences.

It is not even worth explaining why it was needed at the state level. The department had a neuroenergy laboratory, in which the famous occultist Alexander Barchenko worked. He often went on expeditions to deepen his knowledge and obtain additional information in the field of the occult.

However, their scientific research did not last long. Both Barchenko and Bokiya were arrested in that same 1937, apparently for becoming too prominent professionals in their field and could be dangerous for the Soviet regime. Nominally, they were accused of creating a Masonic organization; upon arrest, all manuscripts and scientific developments were seized. Later, both scientific leaders were shot.

The department itself was liquidated, since it was virtually impossible to find a replacement for such specialists, and there were hardly many who wanted to take the place of the executed.

Death laboratory

In several sources, you can find data that during the reign of Stalin, a special toxicological laboratory was working under the state security service. It studied and developed new psychotropic and toxic substances. Nominally for state-level special operations. Nobody knows what success the specialists from this laboratory managed to achieve and what they actually invented.

The laboratory was created in 1935 and was part of the department of operational technology, was reorganized several times, but the essence of its work remained the same. Its nominal name was Laboratory X. One of the heads of the department to which the laboratory belonged, during interrogations in the Beria case, admitted that experiments were often carried out on living people - those who were sentenced to capital punishment. With the help of these developments, persons objectionable to the Soviet government were eliminated. Who exactly this was not specified, but knowing that the country's leadership did not stand on ceremony with its citizens, it can be assumed that we are talking about key figures in world politics.

One of the most important developments of the laboratory was the so-called "truth serum". With the help of this potion, the services tried to get the information they needed, so it was mixed into food, drink, injections, lotions, even fired with special bullets. No one undertakes to say how reliable the information obtained in this way was, even after decades.

The department was disbanded in 1950, but almost all specialists moved to other structures that were related to intelligence and continued their scientific activities. Presumably, it was from the activities of "Laboratory X" that generals Yevgeny Miller, Alexander Kutepov, head of the NKVD department Abram Slutsky, and Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg suffered.

Military development: versatile soldier and invisible plane

Scientific developments could not but relate to military technology. In addition to scientific research, which was carried out officially, there were developments that could create real Soviet terminators. At least that's what they think in America. In addition to the assumptions of the American historian Jeff Strasberg, there is no data about this. He also writes in his monograph that the USSR created universal soldiers by inserting gold electrodes into their brains, replacing them with titanium limbs. Moreover, it supposedly happened on the eve of the Second World War.

After the outbreak of the war, development was suspended, although it would have been more logical, on the contrary, to speed it up. After all, most of the developments were aimed at ensuring that all wounds for the soldier were always through, and he himself never failed. Moreover, the historian writes that the most trained Komsomol members were used as test samples. However, all participants in the project died at the front, although the historian also found an explanation for this - a cleanup from his own people, because if such a soldier were captured, all scientific research could fall into the possession of the enemy. Later, they did not return to this development, since military technologies had stepped far ahead and the need for terminator soldiers had already disappeared.

Another military development also exists at the level of rumors and speculation. Allegedly, Robert Bartini is an Italian by origin, but an aircraft designer who worked for the USSR, created an aircraft that became invisible. Witnesses, who were extremely few, claim that the plane, after gaining altitude, disappeared from sight, but most importantly, it was not recorded by instruments.

However, according to legend, the flying device was dismantled after testing, since it was not possible to achieve a stable invisible effect. There is no reliable data on this development, so it is likely that invisible aircraft, as well as terminator soldiers, are just a myth.

Monkey + human

Despite the fact that modern science claims that monkeys and humans cannot interbreed, there are many speculations that Soviet scientific developments in this area were successful. But in that case, where are the results of their labor - the ape? After all, these studies had some kind of justification, and their results were planned to be used for something, since for this very dubious for ethical reasons, the event was generally undertaken.

Ilya Ivanov - a Soviet scientist in tsarist times set ambitious plans for himself, but they did not find support from the government, everything changed with the advent of Soviet power. Ivanov in 1926 brought a couple of dozen chimpanzees from Guinea and began to cross them with human biomaterials. It took 10 years to get the first results. Allegedly, the first hybrid of a man and a monkey was named Vladlen, in honor of the leader of the world revolution.

It is believed that Vladlen was quite human-like in appearance, but at the same time possessed enormous physical capabilities, was strong, agile, but also aggressive. Once he tried to escape, it cost the lives of two watchmen. As a result, Vladlen was put to sleep.

It's funny, but the reason for Vladlen's aggressiveness was found in poor genetic material. Allegedly, the father of the hybrid was a convicted sailor, which is why his offspring turned out to be so unfortunate. Now, if the biological material came from party workers and honored figures … It was not accepted in the country to refuse from the tasks of state importance in the country, it was said - done. By the beginning of the 40s, there were already 70 apes in the laboratory. Born apparently exclusively to fathers with ideal backgrounds, as escape attempts were no longer reported.

However, it was not clear what to do with them? There were proposals to use them in hard labor, in coal mines, on a logging, in the development of the Far North. However, the prisoners of the GULAG coped with all this perfectly.

The legend, which rather brings a smile, says that the trail of the apes is lost in the war, during which they showed heroism and excellent physical fitness. Fighting, apparently, somewhere near the terminator soldiers.

Turkmen canal, transport highway and Sakhalin tunnel

After Stalin died, several projects were closed that were started on his initiative, it is likely that if they were brought to the end, the country would have felt their economic benefits and improved quality of life.

The construction of the Turkmen Canal began five years after the Victory, it was assumed that its length would be 1200 km. This would become one of the main communist construction projects. But, almost immediately after the death of the leader, the project was closed and the channel remained only on paper. Approximately the same fate befell the main railway, which was supposed to connect Komi with the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The project was also ambitious because most of the construction would be in the Far North. However, in the future, such a railway would help to save fabulous sums in the construction of northern cities.

It was said about the need to build a great northern route even before the revolution; construction began almost immediately after the war - in 1949. According to the project, already in 1952 the highway was supposed to start functioning. The construction was mainly carried out by prisoners, whose number reached one hundred thousand.

The death of Stalin did not allow the launch of the project in its original form. Despite the fact that most of the work has already been completed. Some sites are still in operation, but some have turned out to be abandoned. Nadym and Novy Urengoy, as Stalin assumed, were built, bringing building materials by helicopter. The eSakhalin tunnel was a personal initiative of Stalin, he considered it necessary to connect the island with the mainland. This idea came to him after the war, he believed that it would be easier and faster to move military forces, because it was impossible to do this quickly on the ferry. In addition, a tunnel or bridge could significantly facilitate the work of the national economy of this region.

The project was ready, according to it, part of the railway track would pass along the island, and then under water, to the narrowest part of the strait, where it will be connected to the mainland - only about 500 kilometers. But after Stalin died, the project was quickly curtailed, by that time only the ground part had been laid.

Courts of honor

It is difficult for modern people to imagine that their actions that do not fall under the criminal or administrative code, someone would dare to condemn, and even publicly. In the USSR, this was put into practice, and now we are not talking about party meetings, where this happened all the time. The so-called "courts of honor" were created in 1947, following the example of the nobles and the military in pre-revolutionary Russia. At first, they also worked in wartime to identify traitors, condemn misconduct at the front. After the war, this practice remained and began to be applied at various civil service bodies to correct the behavior of employees. Moreover, this was often associated with corrupt activities.

Such courts of honor could well not just confine themselves to censure and reprimand, but also expel him from the party, or even transfer materials to the authorities altogether, if it was a major offense. Stalin's death affected this phenomenon as well; by the 60s, most of them had ceased their activities.

Eight sisters

We are talking about seven Stalinist skyscrapers, which are still recognizable and large-scale architectural structures of the capital. But initially it was planned that there would be not seven, but eight. They began to build houses in 1947, timed to coincide with the anniversary of Moscow, and each skyscraper was the personification of one century.

The last, eighth skyscraper was to be built in Zaryadye, its design was carried out by Dmitry Chechulin, the chief architect of Moscow at that time. Moreover, it was planned that the eighth building would become the culmination of the project, the personification of the present century. According to the project, the building was supposed to be 275 meters high, at that time there were no buildings higher in Moscow.

The building was supposed to be transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but Stalin's death interrupted even this construction. Although by this time the foundation was completed and even several floors. In 1954, construction was stopped. At that time, two more of the skyscrapers were not completed - the eighth sister and the hotel "Ukraine". The hotel was eventually completed, but the skyscraper for the Ministry of Internal Affairs was never completed, at least as originally planned.

Under Brezhnev, major changes were made to the project, and the Rossiya hotel was built on this foundation, much more modest when compared with the original idea. However, later this building was demolished, and a park was located on this place.

Intervention in nature

Everything in this world required improvement and transformation. And Stalin was ready to put his hand to everything. For example, a project was developed according to which the climate was supposed to change and yield increases.

However, nothing criminal, eight forest belts were to be planted on the territory of the country, in certain places, in order to protect the fields from the winds of dry winds. An irrigation system was to appear. The total length of the forest plantations was to exceed 5 thousand kilometers.

This is perhaps the only program that has not been canceled after Stalin's death. It was started in 1948, but for obvious reasons its implementation could not happen quickly - the trees had to grow in time. Its scope diminished, but it continued to operate until 1965. Up to 50 thousand hectares of forest continued to be planted a year, while the total area was supposed to be at least 4 million hectares.

It is believed that the decline in yields in Khrushchev's times is due precisely to the fact that the volume of implementation of this program, which included rather multifaceted tasks, decreased. Ambitious and often large-scale so that they frightened the successors - those who came after Stalin lacked the spirit and determination to bring his ambitious projects to their logical conclusion. And this, despite the fact that there was a project, funding and justification.
