- it is in this creative direction that wonderful works write their amazing artist from Svetlogorsk Olga Velichko. Her naive paintings are a world of kindness and sincere friendship, a world of children's fairy tales and fantasies, where everything is subordinated to positive emotions and love for all living things.
It's not a secret for anyone that it is through visual images that a child consciously begins to cognize the world around him. And it is these images that tend to penetrate deeply into his consciousness, and live there for years, periodically emerging in his memory. And the more talented the artist, the more the heroes of his paintings affect the psyche and consciousness of the baby. Therefore, it is very important what images the artist chooses for his works.
Light, artless and somewhat very naive characters in Olga Velichko's paintings evoke a warm and affectionate smile from the viewer, setting him up for a lyrical mood. Here is a good-natured goat, and a scientist cat tells his tales to Pushkin, and forest animals at tea, and a Donkey with a lilac fan instead of a tail brush, and everywhere there are kind, kind, kind faces of guys … Here is also the world of the Russian village, with its traditions and rituals as well as rustic simplicity, which for the artist is close to holiness.
The world of paintings by the Svetlogorsk artist is so warm, soft, mysterious and surprisingly gentle that you involuntarily begin to feel like a child who believes in incredible miracles. In addition, on her picturesque canvases, the echo of folk fairs, and some kind of childish naivety and spontaneity, and at the same time - the inexhaustible wisdom of earthly life and village life, are combined in a bizarre way.
And, curiously, all these nuances are equally perceived by fans of the artist's talent living in Lithuania and Poland, the Czech Republic and Japan, Norway and France, wherever her works were exhibited during exhibition tours. There is no need for words: the intensity of the textured brushstroke and the language of lines spoke for themselves. Where words end, painting begins …
In every painting by Olga Velichko, her creative spirit and freedom of her artistic thought are present to a great extent. But the truth is they say that talented work always "hooks", that is, does not leave a person indifferent. She can annoy some, admire others, excite others. The work of Olga Anatolyevna also belongs to this category. Even those who are skeptical about naive art take her works quite well. Because there is something in them that is so familiar and close to every person from distant childhood, which causes nostalgia and a positive attitude.
About the artist
Olga Velichko was born in the family of the artist Anatoly Velichko in 1965 in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, the city of Frunze (now Bishkek). From early childhood, watching her father work, she gradually became involved in creativity herself. And already being a student of the tenth grade, Olya knew for sure that she could not live without painting. She continued the family tradition, following in her father's footsteps. First she graduated from the decorative department of the Kyrgyz State School, and then became a student of the graphic arts department of the Kazakh University. Since 1992, she has regularly participated in republican youth exhibitions in the cities of Alma-Ata and Bishkek.
Since 1995, the artist has been living in Svetlogorsk, Kaliningrad Region, where she teaches painting lessons at an art school. Over the years, she has graduated many talented students, including many diploma winners at International and All-Russian competitions. Since 2003 Olga has been a member of the Union of Artists of Russia and the International Art Fund.
When Olga Anatolyevna is asked: She answers:
Amazing works of the artist and teacher are in the collection of the Historical Museum of the city of Kaliningrad, in private collections in the USA, Japan, Norway, France, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Belarus and the CIS countries, as well as in many cities of Russia.
Summing up the above, I would like to say that Olga Anatolyevna's most important gift lies in the ability to sincerely rejoice - the passing day, the coming day, the light, the sun … Just rejoice … And this she generously shares with her young and adult spectators and, of course, her students.
I would also like to emphasize that in the modern world there is not so little evil that destroys human souls. What a sin to conceal, because today many artists are very talented in portraying nightmares and immersing their viewers in them. Therefore, it is very important to protect the attitude of children from such a dangerous and undesirable effect on their still not strong minds and to give them more positive emotions.
In the modern art world, there are many artists who work in the style of primitivism, bringing a positive message to the viewer. Read about one of these in our publication: Winter paintings by Valentin Gubarev that bring a smile and warm the soul.
