And what is curious - many do find it. As well as fame and recognition … In our publication, paintings of the original Arkhangelsk artist Yuri Vasendin, who has earned a name for himself, and his works have a place in the collections of collectors from Scandinavia, Europe, America.
Someone will say that the artist's works are "antique" stylization. Yes, perhaps Yuri Dmitrievich took some spectacular techniques from the great masters of the past. It is not for nothing that his forest landscapes are often compared with the works of Ivan Shishkin. But, of course, in all the work of the master there is his own worldview and zest. Watch and enjoy …
Artist Yuri Vasendin (born 1958) was born in Arkhangelsk. A talent for creativity manifested itself from an early age, especially the boy loved to paint. Therefore, in parallel with the general education, Yuri studied at an art school. By the end of his studies, among the students of the studio, the future artist stood out for his extraordinary abilities, a deep sense of composition, accuracy in working out forms and knowledge of the peculiarities of the color palette. As a result, his still lifes, picturesque landscapes and painstakingly painted portraits have always been noted by the teachers of the school and the public at city exhibitions.
After graduating from the Arkhangelsk art school in 1975, the talented young man did not enter the university, but immediately got a job as an artist in the house of culture in the Maimaksa village. In parallel with advertising and design activities, he began to look for himself in painting. The main theme of creative searches of that period was forest jungle with elements of mysticism and corresponding images.
Over time, having adopted the canons of the Russian realistic school of the Itinerants as a basis, Vasendin gradually moved from portraying the gloomy, harsh northern wilderness to lyrical "mood landscapes". The artist did not stop there: along with the age-old pine groves, flood meadows, forest swamps, subjects of ancient Russian epics, village and city motifs and magnificent seascapes began to appear in his creative arsenal.
Despite his steady devotion to forest subjects, he is still interested in the provincial courtyards of "Old Arkhangelsk", Pomor boats on Solombalka and dilapidated "two-story buildings" in the village of the Hydrolysis Plant.
After enjoying the peaceful village life, the artist began to seek inspiration while traveling. Every corner of the earth is worthy to be praised. River valleys, dizzying mountain landscapes, urban plots, abandoned villages and distant monasteries - there is poetry in everything, if you look at it through the eyes of an artist.
Over the years, the artist has developed an author's style in oil painting, reflecting the artist's deep professionalism. His works have participated in numerous exhibitions of his native Arkhangelsk, more than once represented the Russian North at the expositions of Moscow and St. Petersburg.
And by the beginning of the 90s, his works began to be in demand not only among domestic, but also foreign connoisseurs of painting. The artist annually took his paintings to the countries of Scandinavia and Western Europe. And they won more and more new fans. His fabulously beautiful canvases attracted the viewer with both naturalism, and notes of Russian impressionism, and the incredible charm of the environment, and sincerity.
Yuri Dmitrievich's work is incredibly picturesque and lively. The pacifying beauty of the natural landscape, the smell of moss and pine needles, the rustle of foliage are just a few of what the viewer sees and hears when looking at the master's canvases. Moreover, each of his works evokes an immense desire to take a step to the other side of the canvas, to walk along bright meadows and trampled dirt roads, along village streets and shady forest paths, and also personally feel the warm rays of the sun breaking through the branches of mighty trees.
And what is curious: any plot, even the most mundane, becomes an excellent motive for a stunning canvas, when the virtuoso Yuri Vasendin takes up the brush. His northern landscapes excite the imagination of the audience, striking with the technique of execution, which contains both realism and impressionism. Therefore, his paintings are so appreciated in the art market. Collectors not only from Russia, but also from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Denmark, and Canada gladly supplement their private collections with them.
Modern artists more and more often turn to the works of old masters for inspiration and use "antique" techniques in their work. We invite you to look at the mesmerizing Russian landscapes by Alexander Afonin, made in the best traditions of the classical school of painting.
