Probably no one has such a love for takeaway coffee as an artist from Malaysia called Cheeming Boey. If you remember, once we wrote about him drawings on disposable cups from foam, which turn from useless garbage into a work of art. And in Great Britain, a young artist is engaged in such creativity. Paul Westcombehowever, his painted cups are made of cardboard. After finishing their coffee, bought on the way to work, any other person will certainly crush the empty glass and throw it into the trash can or under the nearest bush, without even thinking that this disposable vessel has great potential. And Paul Westcomb not only thought, but also brought his plan to life, turning cardboard cups into painted masterpieces of modern art.
And the art, frankly speaking, is very specific. The surface of the cups is solidly covered with strange drawings, at the same time reminiscent of wall graffiti, traditional comics and those scribbles that appear on the last pages of student notes during boring lectures. And often all this is done in acidic psychedelic colors, and this is the only reason that attracts attention. However, in the collection of painted cups there are also less wild drawings made with watercolors, but this is more the exception than the rule.
Beautiful, but meaningless, as many will decide, this art can be called experimental. But it, nevertheless, quickly finds its fans and followers, as evidenced by the fact that the project Coffee cups has been presented in British galleries and exhibitions many times. You can get acquainted with the work of Paul Westcomb on his website.

Fooling around cardboard: the cardboard world in Santiago de Chile
Cardboard is not the kind of material that artists love. Well, what can you make of it? Perhaps the applique. But Chilean artist Don Lucho disagrees. He has been creating his world out of cardboard for many years
Graffiti from colored cups on a mesh fence. Art project of the Multistab studio
Estonian design duo Multistab has taken a completely new approach to creating street art, in particular, street art on fences, but without the use of appliqués and paint cans. The guys "master" exclusively mesh metal fences, and decorate them with pictures made exclusively from … multi-colored plastic cups. The result is something that resembles a mosaic, where each cup is a pixel, only large and on the fence
The bullet is a fool, but beautiful: an overview of weapon art
It is not the weapon that kills - the man is killing. Bullets, cartridges, crossbow bolts, gaping cannon muzzles, knives and nuclear missiles - all these are only conductors of furious human will. Despite this, we fear them - and we love them, we like them and disgust them - they are as contradictory as the universe itself, and as terrible as ourselves. That is why they attract artists, sculptors and photographers. The most interesting works of art on the topic of bullets - in this review
Plyushkin's dream: installation of dozens of painted paper cups
What do most people do when they drink coffee? That's right, throws away a plastic or paper cup. Although, perhaps, it is not so correct. For example, the American artist Gwyneth Leach has been collecting paper cups from which she had a chance to drink coffee or tea, and paints them with funny patterns over the past few years. And then he brags about the results of his work in front of the audience
