The Sagrada Familia is the main attraction Of Barcelona and one of the most famous buildings in the world. Moreover, it is used not only as a church, but also as a huge art platform, on the facade of which you can arrange a theatrical performance or hold a large-scale projection show, as the studio recently did. Moment Factory.
This February, artist Marcos Zotes put on a stunning projection show on the façade of the Hallgrímskirkja Lutheran Church in Reykjavik. And recently a similar performance took place in Barcelona. And as one would expect, the facade of the Sagrada Familia was used as a platform for it.
This light show was staged by the Montreal art studio Moment Factory, which called its work Ode a la vie. For fifteen minutes, 16 video projectors, 15 computers and 25 spotlights created an amazing visual action on the facade of the Sagrada Familia, in which the authors tried to show their view of the origin of life on Earth, as well as the history of human rebirth and hopes.
Moreover, the projection show was adapted to the surface, to put it mildly, of the extraordinary Nativity Facade of the Sagrada Familia, the author of which is the genius Catalan Antonio Gaudi. In this way, the artists at Moment Factory have fulfilled the long-standing desire of many creators to combine the delightful architecture of this architectural masterpiece with digital art.
Moreover, as the visual basis for the projection show Ode a la vie, the original color sketches of Antoni Gaudi himself, who called color "the essence of life", were taken. He was unable to translate these ideas into architecture, but Moment Factory did a great job of using them in his multimedia work of art. Thirty-two thousand residents of Barcelona and guests of this beautiful Mediterranean city gathered in one of September evenings in the square in front of the Sagrada Familia.
