While some people build relatively small structures from the LEGO set, others are chasing new records. The latter include schoolchildren from the American state of Delaware, who recently created the world's tallest LEGO tower … A couple of years ago, photo artist Reiner Riedler created a series of works called "Fake Vacations" in which he showed what tricks people are ready to go to in order to prove to others that they spent their summer holidays to the fullest and not wasted them in front of the computer. Students at John Dickinson High School in Wilmington, Delaware decided to take a different route. They spent their summer vacation on neither more nor less, creating an achievement worthy of the Guinness Book of Records.
After spending two months of work and about five hundred thousand LEGO bricks, they created a tower 34, which is 2 meters higher than the previous world record set several years ago in Prague. This structure weighs about a ton, and the money for the purchase of elements for its construction was collected by the school leadership from all over the district.
“By creating this tower, we wanted to show the students how strong a team can be. After all, one person could never have built such a huge tower, and, having got down to business together, they easily built a toy skyscraper, information about which will be included in the new edition of the Guinness Book of Records,”commented on the idea of the project curator from the school Mervyn Dougherty.
