Thick sheets of plain white paper in the hands of the artist Lisa Rodden get a new start in life, turning into three-dimensional paintings that the author does not paint, but carves on a white plane. Her works are distinguished not only by their minimalism and brevity, but also by the utmost precision with which the artist makes cuts on paper, forming her own creative compositions from them.
Skillfully manipulating light and shadow, adding here and there colors for contrast and originality of the drawing, Lisa Rodden cuts out figures of animals and birds from paper, as well as geometric patterns that are symmetrical and accurate - only a pedantic and patient person is capable of this. for whom monotonous scrupulous work is pleasure, not torture. The relief works of Lisa Rodden make you admire her talent, and it is impossible to take your eyes off some of them - the gaze slides along the colored sections, lingering on one or the other, looking for and finding something new in each of the artist's unusual paintings.
Knowing about Lisa Rodden's talent for handling paper and scissors, as well as her innovative approach to this work, large companies often order her to produce and develop their own voluminous business cards and unusual brochures. And the artist's paper carvings are shown in art galleries as an example of stylish and laconic contemporary art, for which there is a great future.
The next exhibition of the artist's paper paintings will take place in Sydney, at the Art2Muse art gallery, from 8 to 21 August.
