The first edition of this masterpiece of book art was printed in Edinburgh and London from 1827 to 1838. The amazingly accurate life-size illustrations of birds by the American naturalist J. J. Audubon are hand-painted prints. In 2010, at Sotheby's, a copy of Birds of America from Lord Hesketh's collection was sold for $ 11.5 million. Several editions of this rarity are kept in the largest libraries in Russia.
