June 5 marks the 80th anniversary of the famous Polish actress Barbara Brylska, who won the hearts of millions of viewers after starring in The Irony of Fate. She is unlikely to celebrate her anniversary - 5 years ago she admitted that birthdays for her are no longer holidays, but every new year she has lived is like an abyss. Until recently, she was full of strength and energy, took part in the filming of television projects and gave interviews, but in the past few years she became a recluse and, according to her, completely lost interest in life. 2018 was a year of turmoil for her, and recently they started talking about the artist struggling with a serious illness.

After that, she was advised to enter a higher theater school.

Widespread fame came to her in the mid-1960s. after her role as Ramses's concubine in Pharaoh, which received an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film. Since then, they began to invite her to shoot not only in Poland, but also in Yugoslavia, the German Democratic Republic and the USSR. Soviet viewers saw her back in the late 1960s - early 1970s. in the films "Liberation" and "Cities and Years".

The Polish melodrama "Anatomy of Love", where Brylska starred in very frank scenes, caused a great resonance. For this, many condemned the star, some critics were even sure that this film would ruin her film career, but the actress's popularity only grew. In the USSR, "Anatomy of Love" was shown in an abridged version, but it was in this film that Eldar Ryazanov noticed it.

All-Union fame fell on her in the mid-1970s, when Brylska played the role of Nadia Sheveleva in the film "The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath!", Which divided her life into before and after. In 1993, her 20-year-old daughter Basya died in a car accident, and the actress could not come to terms with this loss. The next few years passed in a daze. Her marriage to the doctor Ludwig Kosmal broke up, Barbara drowned her grief in alcohol and completely lost her interest in life. She was forced to pull herself together only by the thoughts of her teenage son - she admitted that if it had not been for him, she would probably have killed herself.
