In the 1970s. Marina Vladi, who turns 78 on May 10, was one of the most famous women in the USSR. Everyone knew the name of the French actress of Russian origin due to the fact that she was a muse and wife. Vladimir Vysotsky … But after his sudden death, she suddenly disappeared, and gradually everyone forgot about her. Meanwhile, her life after the death of Vysotsky was full of serious trials. Who helped her overcome depression and escape from suicidal thoughts, and why did Marina Vlady become addicted to alcohol?
Marina Vlady said that marriage with Vysotsky incinerated her. And after his death, she could not come to her senses for a long time. In a state of deep depression, she often thought about death and even tried to commit suicide. Her salvation was a meeting with the oncologist Leon Schwarzenberg, who was sympathetic to her depressed state and endless conversations about Vysotsky.
Marina felt great gratitude to Leon: “Imagine a couple in love harmony in which a woman, day after day for two years, brings to a man the words of tragic passion for another, and she still needs to be calmed, supported both day and night, for her dreams are also inhabited by restless ghosts …”, - she wrote.
Their marriage was very harmonious and happy: they gave each other support and inspiration, it was at this time that Marina Vlady began to write books and published her famous autobiographical novel, translated into many languages, - "Vladimir, or Interrupted Flight" (1989) … Together with Leon, they took part in actions in support of the disadvantaged, immigrants whom the authorities wanted to expel from the country, in protests against the war in Iraq.
By the tragic irony of fate, the oncologist himself died from this terrible disease. After 23 years spent together, for Marina this was a serious shock, which she could not cope with for a long time. It was during this time that she became addicted to alcohol. This became for her the only way to forget for a while about the loss of the two closest men in her life.
Marina Vlady spoke about those times frankly and without hesitation, with all ruthlessness to her own weaknesses: “I have never shied away from wine, after all, after all, I have Russian roots,” Marina recently told in one of the programs on French television. - In addition, I lived with Vysotsky for a long time. I started drinking when Leon got sick and was dying before my eyes. I drank to relieve suffering. I even experienced a certain euphoria familiar to alcoholics. This at one time surprised me in a unique person - Vysotsky, whose head began to spin drunkenly from just one anticipation of the upcoming drink. Now it's my turn."
But Marina Vlady still managed to overcome alcohol addiction. Literary creativity again became her salvation. Her book "24 frames / second" won the recognition of a wide range of readers. Marina Vladi has written about 2 dozen books.
But the tests did not end there. In a terrible car accident, Marina Vlady lost her granddaughters and almost lost her son. He was in a coma for a long time, but still survived. Since then, the actress and writer often repeats that for some time now she is not afraid of death at all - too often and too close she passed next to her.
Now Marina Vladi lives on the outskirts of Paris and sees the meaning of her existence in just living. Not only for herself, but also for those whom she lost. In 2015, a scandal erupted: Vladi put up at an auction the death mask of Vladimir Vysotsky and his last poem dedicated to her, autographed by the author. The last poem by Vladimir Vysotsky was auctioned for 200,000 euros … Marina Vlady had her own reasons for taking this step: “It's not just about money. I turn my life around and throw myself into the future,”she explains.
