Africa, the beauty and power of wildlife, lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos, zebras, giraffes. An amazing and enchanting world in all its splendor looks at us from the photographs of Laurent Baheux. All these pictures are included in the series called "The Country of Lions". Anyone who has observed the African fauna in natural conditions understands the vague feeling that appears in the soul: a mixture of admiration, respect, but at the same time fear, distrust and admiration for this power and greatness. And the best translation of this feeling is photography, when one picture is worth a thousand words …
Despite all the strength and cruelty, the wild nature breathes new strength into a person and enchants forever. And the sensitive photographer Laurent Baheux felt it and managed to "grab": his photographs "hold". His pictures are taken to the wild continent as it was before man stepped on it. Now the fragile balance of life has been disturbed, “terra incognita ubi sunt leones” (as before the era of geographical discoveries, people called the imaginary land, where, according to their ideas, only lions live) fell one of the many victims of human greed and selfishness. Today we are left with only the remnants of the former greatness of this wild empire.
Laurent Baheux wants to reveal to us the "surviving" parts of Africa and what they were before the arrival of the white people. His photographs preserved the last traces of the world in its "life size", the real kingdom of animals: sometimes gentle, often cruel, strong, but, at the same time, such a vulnerable world. Laurent admits that he “does not photograph just animals, but captures the animal beauty that is in us” and that the photographer wants to preserve by showing people …
Laurent Baheux is a self-taught photographer with a long career in journalism and editing. Hard work and talent opened the doors for him to the world of photography. Thanks to long-term collaboration with sports magazines, Laurent Baheux was able to cover major sporting events, especially in extreme sports. And the photographer has always been fascinated by Africa. In 2002, after a trip to Tanzania, Laurent Baheux began working as an independent artist.
The photographer's works are made in black and white, because, according to Laurent Baheux, it is this color scheme that most vividly emphasizes the magnificence of the relationship between animals, their appearance, and habits. The master is especially interested in endangered species of animals. Laurent Baheux collaborates with many environmental companies that protect nature and try to preserve the ecological diversity of the planet. His "Country of Lions" is a real ode to the wild.

People who believe that children are afraid of many things, do not understand even more, shun, do not take it seriously, in fact, are completely unfamiliar with the peculiarities of the child's psyche.
