“Without music, life would be a mistake” - these words were once uttered by the German philosopher, composer and culturologist Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche. And the most interesting thing is that this applies not only to people, but, incidentally, animals too. A couple of cute kids-rodents will be happy to play you any melody on any instrument. Moppy and Viti, two white rats, are one of the most amazing and talented musician duos in the animal kingdom.
Intelligent rodents have been trained by their ingenious mistress to "play" tiny musical instruments that they hold with their even tinier paws. Professional photographer Ellen van Deelen taught Moppy and Viti to pose with a wide variety of miniature musical instruments, imitating the real playing of them. White rats dexterously handle the trumpet, guitar, flute, trombone, banjo, saxophone, percussion instruments, imitating real musicians.
Once she saw a tiny guitar in a shop window, Ellen van Dielen from Holland first thought about undertaking such a project. And her clever pets helped her in this, easily mastering the skill of posing in front of the camera. “When I held the camera, they did whatever I wanted them to do,” says the photographer. “They are so smart, they know their names. They know exactly how to become, they are talented actors. We have a great understanding. They always know what I am telling them. Ellen van Dielen never ceases to admire Moppy and Viti, cherishing the hope that someday she will be able to train more rats who will become a whole group of musicians.
