Sometimes it seems that contemporary art is ready to recognize as an artist anyone who is able to depict on a canvas or a sheet of paper at least something that remotely resembles a drawing. And if this "something" is also made in an original manner and presented to the public in the same way, it can rightfully be called a masterpiece of modern painting.
Such masterpieces come from the hands of a Boston artist named Fionn McCabe. I would call his work surrealist abstractionism, but we will leave the right to hang such "labels" on specialists. This author is quite new for a society interested in modern painting. There is not even detailed information about him on the Internet, except for the name, homeland and, in fact, drawings. But even from the drawings it is difficult to determine what kind of bird is in front of us.
The paintings by Fionn McCabe resemble a chaotic mess of people, objects, body parts and unidentified elements that can be mistaken for either monsters, or trolls and goblins, or other fairy-tale characters invented by the author. Some of the works are scary, some are disgusting, but in general they are all very emotional - which will not leave a person indifferent.
And if the main goal of art is to influence, impress and leave a trace in a person's soul after viewing a particular picture, Fionn McCabe successfully copes with this task, which is beyond the strength of many other authors of this wave.
