Video: Truth and lies about the famous dance group "Birch": 7 historical inconsistencies in the series

When the TV series "Birch" was announced, not only ordinary viewers were waiting for it, but also those people whose fate was connected with the legendary team. Moreover, the tape was released in the year when the ensemble celebrated the 70th anniversary of its foundation. In general, the television series "Birch" has collected good reviews, but people familiar with the history of the creation and development of the ensemble noted several serious inconsistencies.
Time offset
The events of the series unfold in the 1980s, but the team is led by its creator, Nadezhda Sergeevna Nadezhdina. In fact, the famous choreographer died in 1979 and handed over the management of Birch to the leading soloist and her first assistant, Mira Mikhailovna Koltsova.
Mira Koltsova noted: the actors played very well, but many inconsistencies seriously spoiled the impression of those who worked or are working in the ensemble. According to Mira Mikhailovna, the creators, of course, have the right to the author's fiction, but there was too little historical accuracy in it, although the series was announced as timed to the anniversary of "Birch".
Children and brainchild of Nadezhda Nadezhdina
According to the plot, the head of the team, Nadezhda Nadezhdina, has a son who at some point leaves the Soviet Union and goes to permanent residence in the United States. In fact, Nadezhda Sergeevna never had heirs, her brainchild, pride and the subject of tireless concern has always been "Birch".
In addition, Mira Mikhailovna Koltsova asserts: in the entire 70-year history of the Birch ensemble, there was not a single person in the collective who, in accordance with the time when this happened, could be called a traitor. Not a single dancer stayed abroad after touring, no one was involved in illegal currency transactions or espionage. Mira Mikhailovna herself got into "Birch" as a 17-year-old girl, immediately after graduating from a choreographic school. For 25 years she was the leading soloist, and after the departure of Nadezhda Nadezhdina she headed the renowned collective.
Smuggling
In the series, there is a moment when one of the main characters is caught smuggling. In fact, Berezka has never had such problems. Therefore, Mira Koltsova reacted very sharply to such inconsistencies and in some way found them even offensive.
Attitude towards stage costumes
The members of the collective have always been very sensitive to the stage costumes and did not even allow themselves to sit in them before the performance, so that not a single extra fold would appear on the dress. Therefore, it is simply impossible to imagine a situation when a soloist takes a costume to appear in it at a party. And for sure, no one would dine in a unique stage outfit.
Become a soloist
One of the main heroines of the series becomes a soloist, starting her service in the team as a cleaner. But in fact, since the founding of the State Academic Choreographic Ensemble "Birch", people with good training, real professionals, graduates of choreographic schools have been accepted here. Only the first 16 girls who performed the dance "In the field there was a birch tree" came to the ensemble from amateur performances.
Nadezhda Sergeevna Nadezhdina herself was a ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater and danced leading roles in Swan Lake, Don Quixote, La Bayadere and other productions. And during the selection of dancers, I was guided not only by the high professional qualities of the candidates, but also paid attention to the “sparkle in the eyes”, which would help the viewer to see the Russian soul.
Unhealthy rivalry
Ksenia Zhuravleva, who played the role of a dance teacher in the series, has worked at Birch for almost 30 years. In her opinion, there was always no unhealthy competition among the soloists. The girls did not build intrigues against each other and, moreover, they could not pour broken glass into their shoes or create situations when the “rival” could get injured. This invention of the scriptwriters greatly spoils the reputation of the choreographic ensemble. In "Birch" there was no such rivalry, because each of the soloists worked in her own role, the girls simply had no reason for angry envy.
By the way, this also applies to the rivalry shown in the series between "Birch" and the ensemble of Igor Moiseev (in the film it is the ensemble of Evseev). In real life, the artists of the two groups were friends with each other, they studied in the same educational institutions, created families and, in general, did the same thing.
General atmosphere
Everyone who is related to the Berezka ensemble today agrees: in pursuit of the plot, the creators of the series simply “neglected” the main asset of the collective, which for 70 years has been called the face of a huge country. Nadezhda Sergeevna once created a unique ensemble.
He was distinguished not only by professionalism, special choreography, but also by the unique atmosphere that reigned in the team. It is carefully preserved even today, when the creator of "Birch" has long been dead. Here and today, good and truly family relations reign.
Igor Moiseev, the legendary choreographer and founder of the famous ensemble, did not compete with Birch. Each team had its own specificity and style. By the way, the personal happiness of the leaders of the two ensembles was very different. Igor Moiseev has already celebrated his 35th birthday when he met 16-year-old Irina Chagadaeva. But before the beginning of their great feeling, more than three decades had to pass. Many years later, Igor Moiseev will say that everything serious in his life began from the moment of his marriage to Irusha …
