Attention! Microrealists are conquering the world! Scared? Do not be afraid, they conquer the Universe exclusively with their charm. And these little people in the paintings of the Russian artist Dmitry Yakovin, recognized as the best dreamer in the world in 2001 by the London Artists' Club "Imagination of Art".
Microrealists are such tiny little people who exist in their own microcosm. Dmitry Yakovin is not only the "father" of these crumbs, but he also invented and introduced a new term "microrealism" to describe his work. Microrealism is not ultimate realism, not the world seen under a microscope, and indeed it has nothing in common with realism. Microrealism is a world of little people, similar at the same time to gnomes, fairies and brownies.
The similarity of microrealists with gnomes and elves brings their world closer to the fantasy worlds of Tolkien. The houses for trolls, elves and gnomes, which we saw in the illustrations by A. Jansson, would suit them. Therefore, it is not surprising that in the West, Dmitry Yakovin's talent was discovered and recognized earlier than at home. Until 2004, the artist's works were exhibited about 50 times in the USA, England, Denmark, France and never in Russia. Of course, this could not but be influenced by studying at the Academy of Arts in West Berlin. In addition, Dmitry Yakovin graduated from the Academy of Arts. I. Repin. Today the artist lives in St. Petersburg, and his microrealists have finally conquered the vastness of Russia.
These adorable little men resemble not only gnomes and elves, but also people. Just like people, they are happy and upset, they go on dates and get married, have pets, they also like to drink (admittedly, punch) and much more, reminiscent of human passions and hobbies. However, in the world of microrealists there is no place for evil - everything in it is imbued with kindness. And if sometimes the artist depicts microrealists with a mockery, then this is always a good irony.
