If you penetrate into the thoughts of the average person who thinks about summer vacations, you will be able to see a lot: Crimean resorts, Egyptian beaches, Greek hotels, French casinos … But for some, the stormy resort life with its trips to taverns and noisy entertainment is not relaxation, but sheer torment … It is for such people that the ideal "ivory tower" exists - lighthouse hotel in the midst of the stormy waves of the North Sea.
There are no other hotels in the world: someone builds hotels on trees, someone decorates with rubbish … Unusual hotel "Roter Sand" ("Red Sand") is a 125-year-old lighthouse on the high seas near the German city of Bremerhaven. At one time, it was a technological novelty, because its foundation lies 22 meters below sea level. Now everything is in the past: after the steel foundation gave up slack at the end of the 20th century, the lighthouse retired. Thus ended the history of the lighthouse, and began - the most secluded and romantic hotel in Germany.
The journey to it from the nearest large city - Bremen - takes 3 hours, and the longboat sets off only in good weather: the waves of the North Sea do not like jokes. Those who overcome the path will climb to a 30-meter height: before, the lighthouse attendants climbed up in a basket on a rope, and now they do it using a six-meter ladder.
But those who settle in "Rother Zande" (and there are six places in total) will be able to live in grand style: Spartan interiors, bread, canned food, vegetables, fruits and no alcohol. The fact is that those who like to drink will hardly live to the end of their rest: 70 slippery and worn-out steps lead to the toilet. For these rather modest opportunities, thousands of tourists (if they can be considered tourists) paid hotel lighthouse not easy, because tickets are sold out long before the season.
What can you do in this lighthouse hotel? For those who are tired of communication, life, work and even family, this question does not arise. Disconnect phone and internet. Sleep. Read books. Look out of the window at the huge sea waves and the setting sun. Think about what there was no time to think about before. And then, if in a week or two the fatigue from life passes, you can return home. And if not, then you need to look for a job as a lighthouse keeper.

The man and the sea. Ran Orther's incredible portraits of the sea
Returning to stories about the power of inspiration that nature gives to a creative person, one cannot fail to mention the role of the four elements. At Cultural Studies, we often write about masterpieces, both dedicated to these elements, and those born under their influence, for example, about "natural" decorations, stunning photographs of fireworks, ocean waves and seascapes. So the artist Ran Orther, in love with the beauty of the sea and its changeable character, will be an excellent company to the authors already mentioned
Hammock for major relaxation
Nowadays, it is stupid to think that a hammock is such a wicker net, or even a rag hanging on two trees. In our time, they began to be made much more durable and, albeit incredibly, elegant. Such a hammock for a village and even a summer cottage will no longer fit, only for a beach of some
