Jason Gamrath Is a talented glassblower from Seattle, famous for creating flowers of amazing beauty. Giant orchids and exotic plants are the master's calling card.
Jason Hamrath draws inspiration from nature, he is sure that his work allows the viewer to see the smallest details of plants due to their impressive size. Each work is an exact copy of a real flower, enlarged tenfold. The artist explains that the goal of his flower project is to convey the beauty that exists at the micro level in nature, because people do not notice much, they pass by the beautiful.
Jason's work was exhibited last summer in a Seattle park called "Botanical Exotica." First, in April, the 10-foot-high orchid "bloomed", and in June, the tropical predators Venus flytrap and caracenia. In August, the collection was replenished with flowers made from thousands of pieces of glass.
Jason Hamrath has been working with glass since he was 16, at the age of 25 he created the first series of glass sculptures called Flesh and Bone. It was a rather dark exhibition in which the author embodied the pain and suffering he experienced after breaking off a long relationship with his beloved girl. The “flower” project became a kind of healing for the master, the light at the end of the tunnel, which gave hope to regain spiritual harmony.
Jason calls the American glass artist Dale Chihuly his teacher. Many art critics today say that the student is confidently catching up with the teacher and soon his creations can become as flawless as the glass sculptures of the recognized master. Jason himself admits that he strives to make every flower perfect.
Before starting work on making flowers, the master studied in detail the morphology of orchids, their species diversity for six months. He was interested in how the flower lives, dissolves its petals and reaches for the sun. Jason hopes that the audience will have the same questions, this will push them to learn something new about the amazing world of flora.
It took the master a lot of time and effort to create each sculpture, but the result was impressive. Each glass flower was valued at around $ 15,000.
