Trinity Church in Gergeti - one of the most interesting sights of Georgia. It is located at an altitude of 2170 m at the foot of the "guard of the east", gray-haired Kazbek (above the village of Stepantsminda). The church was built in the 14th century, now it is a favorite place for travelers. True, the road is not short: walking uphill takes about three hours, while by taxi - much faster, about half an hour, but still along an uneven mountain road.
“White ragged clouds pulled over the top of the mountain, and the secluded monastery, illuminated by the rays of the sun, seemed to float in the air, carried by the clouds …” They say that these lines of Pushkin are about the Gerget church. Of course, it is difficult to remain indifferent at the sight of this architectural miracle, a haven of faith, lost high in the mountains.
The Church of the Holy Trinity is famous for being the only cross-domed church in the Khevi gorge. In the 18th century, during the invasion of the Persians, precious relics from Mtskheta were transported here, including the Cross of St. Nino, woven from grape vines, which, according to legend, The Mother of God handed her over for safekeeping before the saint was an enlightener to Georgia.
In Soviet times, church services were prohibited, but people's faith has not died, and today people continue to come here in search of unity with God. Today Gergeti Church is subordinate to the Georgian Orthodox Apostolic Church.
Perhaps the best hymn to this wonderful place was written by Alexander Sergeevich, therefore, instead of an afterword, it is appropriate to recall his poem "The Monastery on Kazbek", which contains the following lines: “High above the family of mountains, Kazbek, your royal tent Shines with eternal rays. Your monastery behind the clouds, Like a flying ark in the sky, Soars, barely visible, over the mountains. Distant, longed-for breg! There b, saying forgive the gorge, Climb to the free heights! There, in a transcendental cell, In the neighborhood of God to hide for me!"

Christian analogues of Old Church Slavonic holidays, or why the church could not defeat Maslenitsa and Ivan Kupala
Christianity, introduced in Russia by Prince Vladimir in 988, actually put an end to the development of the solar cult. For a long time the new religion could not oust the remnants of paganism from the consciousness of the people. Some Slavs remained faithful to Dazhdbog, Khors and Perun, others - mixed the two faiths, "merging" their gods with Christian saints, and still others worshiped brownies. Such a term as dual faith appeared, with which the clergy fought for a long time. To "erase" the ancient Slavic traditions, church and St

The gray cardinal and the person who directly created the mechanism of action of Soviet power and ensured its successful functioning in the turning point in 1917-1920, Vladimir Bonch-Bruevich is practically unknown to his contemporaries. However, without him, the Bolshevik party was not created, the Great Socialist Revolution did not happen, and Lenin's career as a leader would have been much less successful if he had time to have a hand in the victory of the Bolsheviks in the Civil War. So why is educated and authored
Goats on Mountain Trails: Where No Man's Foot Can Be Tread

Katskhi Pillar: a church on an impregnable rock in Georgia
There are many different churches that can be called unique for one reason or another. A church without a single nail, a church on an island, a church made of living trees, a church on a cliff … however, the church on the Katskhi pillar in Georgia stands out for the fact that it stands on a 40-meter monolith, which was simply impossible to climb for many years
