The main things that we associate with Switzerland are luxurious ski resorts, delicious cheese and chocolate, as well as the most accurate watches. However, this is not all that can amaze the layman in this country. This is where the unique mountain river Verzasca with crystal clear water. This tourist site has been popular for a long time, but it was only recently that 38-year-old photographer Claudio Gazzaroli managed to truly reveal its beauty!
The length of Verzasca is about 30 km, it originates in Pizzo Barone and flows into Lake Maggiore in Italy. The river is located in the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland, tourists constantly come here to admire the picturesque views and go diving, because the bottom of Verzasca is dotted with colorful stones. Most tourists take pictures of the miraculous river from the nearby mountains or from the numerous bridges that are thrown across the river. But Claudio Gazzaroli decided to demonstrate a new look at the beauties already seen by many!
The photographer chose a new angle for his shots with a diving suit and a waterproof underwater camera. The task of the photographer was to show ground objects through the water column. Amazingly, everything that Claudio captured through a 15-meter "prism" looks just stunning! Looking at the arch bridge, known as the "Roman Bridge", from the bottom of Verzasca, the awareness of how many meters of water separates these objects is completely eliminated.
The only thing that confuses when looking at Claudio's photographs is the absence of living organisms. Trying to unravel the phenomenon of the crystal purity of Verzasca, scientists came to the conclusion that the water in this river has high acidity. This is most likely the reason that neither fish nor algae can live here. Verzasca is a great place for surreal photographs, but at its core it is a dead river.
Taking care of the ecological situation in their country, Swiss Greanpeace activists often organize all sorts of actions calling to take care of the environment! One of the brightest is the flash mob illustrating the nuclear disaster in Switzerland!
