The popular favorite Arkady Raikin has enjoyed unchanging popularity and national love for many years. The power of his charm was so strong that it was impossible to resist it. People constantly fell in love with him, and he fell in love in return. But the only love of Arkady Raikin remained forever his wife, Ruth Ioffe, his Roma.
The first love
Arkady Raikin, even in his school years, actively participated in amateur performances and even toured in neighboring schools. During a speech at 41 Leningrad school, he noticed a pretty girl among the audience. She attracted his attention with her red beret, through which a lock of her black hair was threaded. He remembered the schoolgirl. About a year and a half later, he saw her on Nevsky, she walked like a real queen, with her head held high. To speak on the street with an unfamiliar girl was the height of indecency.
He didn't even know her name - Roma. She was named so because they were waiting for the birth of a boy and had already come up with a name for him. And a girl was born. Her official name was Ruth, but everyone in the household called her Roma.
Only a few years later they met in the institute cafeteria of the theater institute. He immediately recognized her. And he invited me to the cinema. And in the cinema he looked at her carefully and immediately offered her his hand and heart. She promised to think about it. A few days later, she said yes to him. Roma's father and stepmother categorically opposed the fact that the niece of the academician Ioffe himself became the wife of a clown from Rybinsk. But Arkady Isaakovich was sure that he could convince the parents of his beloved. He packed up and went to the Luga, where the Roma family lived in the summer at the dacha.
Young Raikin all the way to himself rehearsed a fiery speech that would change the opinion of future relatives. He was going to tell them about love, before which any difficulties recede. But no one spoke to him. He was simply offered to leave if he does not want trouble. Roma was only allowed to say goodbye to him for five minutes. Forever and ever. It was a real tragedy. Roma was crying.
But could prohibitions leave two lovers? As soon as Roma returned to the city, their meetings resumed, but with great secrecy. Later, the young gentleman Roma was allowed to visit the house, but they treated him as if another child had appeared in the family.
Love conquered all obstacles
A year later, Raikin invited everyone to his graduation performance. It was after the premiere of Moliere's Ridiculous Cuties that Ruth's father and her stepmother agreed to the marriage of Ruth and Arcadius.
They began a life together in Roma's parental home, where they were given a room. They were in love and happy. Their life was overshadowed only by the fact that Roma's stepmother did not stop raising them, tirelessly making remarks and curbing her son-in-law with or without it. Even when Arkady and Roma had a daughter, Katya, she did not cease to powerfully subordinate everyone in the house to her ideas about behavior in the family.
And Arkady, unable to withstand the pressure, ran away with his daughter to his parents. Of course, faithful Roma immediately followed him. The artist's parents were very happy with this turn of events, and little Katya became for them a source of endless love and tenderness. However, Arkady and Roma soon received a room in a communal apartment and began their independent life.
Together forever
Since then, always and everywhere Roma has been there. After she graduated from the institute, Arkady and Roma began to work together in the theater of miniatures, where the actor's wife performed under the pseudonym R. Roma.
It was she who was the inspiration, critic and, in part, even a teacher for the great artist. On stage, she was an ideal partner, and in life - a loyal, reliable, loving and caring wife. When he toured during the war at the front, she was also there. She, as far as conditions allowed, always tried to provide him with comfort and almost home coziness. And she was always ready for the fact that her husband would need her help. And he got it invariably.
Later, rumors about his hobbies with other women, about his frequent falls in love would begin to arise. Perhaps this was the case. But it never had a continuation, because he had the strongest feelings for only one person - his beloved Roma.
In 1950, Arkady Isaakovich and Rufi Markovna had a son, Kostya, Kotya, as they affectionately called him at home. With his birth, an almost youthful ardor, reinforced by mature love, returned to the family.
Difficulties and sorrows - in half
Arkady Isaakovich wrote in his memoirs that Roma always understood him. When a flurry of criticism fell upon him, when he was denigrated, accused, erected unimaginable slander, she suggested how best to act, gave practical advice, dictated not by a desire to console, but solely by a desire to help.
Konstantin Raikin, recalling his father, emphasizes the amazing harmony that reigned in the family. This harmony was built and maintained by the efforts of Roma. Parents often went on tour, constantly sending letters to children from different parts of the country, and then from abroad. These letters are surprisingly light, filled with tender care, gentle parental instructions, devoid of even a hint of a mentor's tone. They are full of respect for the personality of the little person and faith in his dignity.
When Ruth Markovna suffered a stroke, Arkady Isaakovich cared for her so touchingly and tenderly that the actor's children still remember it with tears. He admired her courage. Roma did a lot to restore mobility. Only a full-fledged speech did not return to her, but she even began to go to performances with her husband's participation.
When again he sat her down in the auditorium and left to prepare for his appearance on the stage, Arkady Raikin felt bad with his heart. They called an ambulance, the doctors categorically forbade him to speak. But he begged them for at least three minutes on stage. His wife was sitting in the hall, barely beginning to recover from her illness. If he does not come out, she will certainly understand: something is wrong with him. He was released. And he did not leave the stage for more than half an hour.
Ruth Markovna outlived her husband. But upon learning of his death, she, who practically did not speak after the stroke, clearly said: "I want to die …" And until the end of her days, an inescapable longing for the one she loved all her life splashed in her eyes.
The union of Rustam "Romeo" Sagdullaev and his wife Marina Kuzina can also be considered an ideal marriage. Fans of this actor can rejoice for their idol.
