There are too many shy people in the city, students of various universities counted, and staged an action "Kissing City" in St. Petersburg. Residents of the capital appreciated the idea and gathered several thousand romantic-minded people on Manezhnaya Square to get to know each other, kiss and try to get into the Guinness Book of Records for the number and quality of kisses.
For the first time the action "Kissing City" was held in St. Petersburg. On September 8, 2007, several hundred people gathered on Palace Square to kiss each other, adding romance to Saturday night. Not only young people took part in the action. The main star of the event was a pensioner who cheerfully sets an example for young people how to kiss correctly.
The action, according to the organizers, was a success, and they decided to hold such events regularly. In various places in the northern capital, people gathered to give each other positive emotions and kisses. Not only couples, but also single people were invited to participate in the promotions. The organizers took care of them by coming up with an easy way to meet the opposite sex. It was enough to approach the person you liked and ask how to get to the library. If they answered that there could be no talk of any libraries at 3 a.m., then they should have continued looking for their soul mate. If the answer was "Yes, I will accompany you", then the "Kissing City" has connected another pair.
The idea of St. Petersburg was picked up by Muscovites. Enthusiasts Roman Lonsky, Nikita Bulanov and their other assistants organized the "Kissing City" on Manezhnaya Square. The action might not have taken place. By law, public assemblies must be announced one month before the event. The organizers did not take this into account. However, the media interest in this romantic event and an active PR campaign on the Internet helped to gather 6,000 participants in the action. The police did not disperse the romantics. Lonely hearts were invited to stick a piece of paper with a drawn heart on a T-shirt in order to look for their own kind and boldly join happy couples. At a certain moment, to the applause of the audience, a red ball was launched into the sky, and people began to kiss each other.
The organizers of the action planned to almost break the Guinness record for the number and quality of kisses, but the weather and the insecurity inherent in Russians prevented their ambitious plans.
The Kissing City in Moscow helped not only unite lonely hearts, but also enrich the grandmothers who sell balloons. Their sales were higher in a couple of hours than on Valentine's Day.
This promotion takes place regularly. Other cities are gradually joining Petersburg and Moscow. Lonely hearts of Russians can stop worrying about their loneliness, and lovers have the right to expect their contribution to the achievement inscribed in the Guinness Book of Records. The current record for the number of couples kissing at the same time belongs to Mexico - 20 thousand couples kissed there.
