I wonder what our descendants will think when they once dug up sculptures from the series in the ruins of cities Pre-Columbian Cartoons by the artist Nadin Ospina? Probably, they will be assigned to the museum of ancient history, mistaken for famous historical characters … And they will be right in their own way. After all, the artist uses world famous pop culture icons, born by the imagination of animators from the world of Disney cartoons, as models. Unless her works look like sculptures of pre-Colombian times, and not modern sculptural creativity. The idea of this art project came to the artist when she found out that one of the items of the pre-Columbian period purchased at the auction was a skillfully made fake. Then she seriously thought about the culture of Latin America and its roots dating back to antiquity. The art project Pre-Columbian Cartoons is a non-verbal commentary, a very peculiar point of view of Nadine Ospina on the problem of the globalization of the entertainment industry, which has entangled the world with its web.
Imitating the ancient art of the Aztecs, Incas and Mayans, Nadine Ospina creates sculptural images of famous characters from Disney cartoons. So, the beloved children of Mickey Mouse and Uncle Scrooge, the funny Goofy and the dog Snoopy, as well as members of the restless Simpsons family, are easy to recognize even in such an unusual form. Thus, in her ironic and humorous manner, Nadine Ospina touches upon the problems of corruption and globalization of modern society, in particular, the world of contemporary art. I wonder if the Incas and Aztecs would have glazed donuts to appease these gods?
Nadine Ospina devoted about 20 years to work on this project. You can see all the pre-Columbian sculptures created over the years on the website of the talented artist.

Archaeologists have discovered a Stone Age metropolis that proved that cavemen were not primitive
Many of us have been taught that the Stone Age is about hairy cavemen swinging wooden clubs and not burdened with much intelligence. Many modern archaeological discoveries prove over and over again that this is not the case at all. The ancient metropolis was discovered by archaeologists in Dorset. Mount Pleasant Mega-henge was built over four and a half thousand years ago. Contrary to popular belief, it was built not for several centuries, but in a wild haste. What caused the real construction boom kam

And megaliths on this island are as common as, for example, supermarkets or gas stations
How a woman lives in the 21st century who has chosen the life of a stone age hunter
We all love convenience and consider ourselves children of civilization. However, sometimes people appear who are drawn to return to the origins of human development, to remain alone with nature and find out whether modern man is still capable of holding out in wild conditions. This is how Lynx Wilden has lived for almost 40 years. In Washington state, far from cities and towns, she set up her own mini-reserve. They live here only by its rules - the way people of the Stone Age lived

Houses made of stone and in stone. The stunning city of Monsanto
Houses made of stone - barely hewn, preserving the natural harmony of a piece of rock - will never become obsolete. And although they cost many times more than those built using modern technologies, there are still people who are ready to pay for a real style with money or labor. And the most unusual and picturesque houses made of stone are in the Portuguese town of Monsanto: for hundreds of years local residents have attached their houses to huge boulders, and as a result, they have created a real harmony of stone
