At home, as well as in a number of foreign countries, a Spanish artist Pablo S. Herrero known for his "vegetal" graffiti, unusual street art on the walls of abandoned buildings. Talking about his work, he claims that he seeks to revive and restore the dialogue between man and nature, which, with varying degrees of success, has been going on for many centuries in a row. And all those trees and branches that adorn the dilapidated brick walls are nothing more than an imitation of nature, which, sooner or later, will claim its rights and envelop these wrecks in lush greenery. It makes no sense to look for philosophical, religious, political, social or any other subtext in these drawings except artistic. He is simply not there, - this is the author's principled position. Harmony with nature, this is the main goal of the creative works of the street artist Pablo Herrero, as well as his co-authors and assistants, among whom is the author's constant colleague and fellow countryman, David de la Mano … With this partner, Pablo Herrero painted countless abandoned and active buildings in many cities of Spain, Portugal, Norway. Through the efforts of artists, faceless gray or brown buildings now flaunt picturesque outfits in the form of plant graffiti, sometimes with funny cartoon motifs, or piquant and even shocking nudes.
Pablo Herrero has several favorite herbal graffiti designs, which he uses both for interior decoration and for painting exterior walls, doors and partitions. As a rule, these are either drawings of trees or drawings in the form of shadows cast by trees and shrubs. Each of the options is beautiful and original in its own way, besides, the artist always comes up with how to diversify the graffiti so that they do not repeat, be unique and exclusive, bring joy not only to him as an author, but also to those who will walk by and look closely at the work. But it is still much interesting to observe the creation of precisely "shadow" graffiti. To achieve the desired result, Pablo Herrero transforms into an artist not only with paints, but also with light. Having created the necessary lighting model, the artist outlines the resulting shadows from real trees, and gets strange, bizarre, and sometimes unexpected contours, which he then turns into artistic surface painting.
In addition to "vegetal" graffiti on walls and fences, Pablo Herrero also paints watercolors on paper, also dedicated to branches, bushes and trees. You can get acquainted with the extensive and varied portfolio on the artist's Internet site.
