For five weeks, from September 5 to October 8, all visitors to the Los Angeles Machine Project gallery can see an installation that will require them to show all their imagination and imagination. After all, its author Josh Beckman (Josh Beckman) organized the most real shipwreck - without a drop of water, right in the middle of the exhibition hall.
Made from wood, fabric and rope, Sea Nymph is a full-size sailboat model that Josh Beckman managed to squeeze into a small gallery space. The stern of the ship tilted, the bow sank under the water, and it is clear that the Sea Nymph is in distress. The only but important BUT: the role of the ocean in this installation is played by the plank floor of the gallery.
David Pagel, one of the art critics, calls Beckman "a very sane sculptor." Here is his quote: "The author controls every cubic centimeter of the gallery, while leaving the audience enough room to maneuver." In addition, the author skillfully plays with perspective and composition: the size of the masts and equipment of the ship does not correspond to the size of the hull and cabins, which "deforms the space and disturbs the sense of balance."
It is interesting that the installation "Sea Nymph" was created more as a kind of scenery than an independent work of art. The fact is that the Machine Project often hosts various lectures, readings and seminars. During September, they are all united by the nautical theme, and there is no doubt that a half-sunken sailing ship will fill these events with an appropriate atmosphere.

The man and the sea. Ran Orther's incredible portraits of the sea
Returning to stories about the power of inspiration that nature gives to a creative person, one cannot fail to mention the role of the four elements. So the artist Ran Orther, in love with the beauty of the sea and its changeable character, will be an excellent company to the authors already mentioned
A whole sea of flowers. Flora Metamorphicae: Experimental Ceramic Installation
The world of flowers and plants is amazing and diverse. Delicate, fragrant, colorful, they can grow on bare rocks, and in sands, and in a swamp, decorating the earth, water, stones, asphalt and even concrete slabs. However, artificial plants can be no less picturesque, especially if talented artists and sculptors have had a hand in them. Such an experimental installation of ceramic flowers was created by Norwegian designers, giving it the name Flora Metamorphicae (Metamorphoses of vegetation)
