Who there claims that children are not a gift? Swiss photographer Catherine Leutenegger can argue with you. After all, she created a series of photographs with children in gift boxes, smartly decorated for a better presentation. An exhibition of her work, Welcome Home Baby, is currently taking place at Geneva's cultural center La Galerie.

The development of genetic technologies has practically led to the fact that even before conception, parents can regulate various parameters of their unborn child - eye color, hair, height, gender and other physiology. It turns out that children are transformed from a gift of God into a product that you can choose according to your taste, having paid money for it.

This is the trend that photographer Catherine Leutenegger is flaunting in his Welcome Home Baby series.

These photos show babies dressed in smart suits. They lie in boxes, as if they were not small people, but just goods. Some of them even have wrapping paper or film on them, which heightens the perception of the product for sale. It's all very realistic, cute, but incredibly creepy.

True, when creating these photographs from the Welcome Home Baby series, the author did not use living children at all, but realistic polymer dolls produced by one of the Swiss firms. Which, however, does not reflect in any way on the powerful message that Catherine Leutenegger put into his work. And even enhances it.

After all, Catherine Leutenegger invites parents-to-be to think about what a child is for them: a product, an expensive toy, or a living person. Catherine Leutenegger's exhibition entitled Welcome Home Baby is held at La Galerie in Geneva from October 14 to November 26 this year.
